I Tested the Ozark Trail 10-Person Cabin Tent Review
Finally, there’s a protected power port that you can run an extension cord through. If you’re anywhere near a generator and rely on power throughout the night, you won’t have to worry about leaving your electronics exposed to the elements while they charge. The inside of the tent features integrated storage compartments sewn into the sidewalls. They’re big enough for a phone and a couple of toiletries, but nothing major. The only issue with the pockets is they’re located along the sidewalls of the tent. If you should need to access anything during the night and aren’t next to your pocket, you’ll be reaching across quite a few bodies.
They might not be great for winter camping, and they’re not rated for hurricane-force rains, but they will give you a great camping experience in fairer weather. For example, many of their tents come with factory sealed seams. This allows you to have great water resistance right out the door without having to seal the seams yourself. But, sometimes you want privacy, and this tent offers great room options. The main room has a divider down the middle, and then there’s the pop-out room on the backside.
I didn’t pay much for this tent (just slightly over $100), and I don’t think there’s any other brand apart from Ozark Trail that you can buy a 10-person tent for this price. The zippers worked fine for the windows, but kept snagging on the door because of this rain cover. My other tents ozark trail chair with similar designs did not have this serious of a snagging problem. Overall, because a lot of water leaked through the un-taped seams and even the tent fabric after just 15 minutes of mostly light rain, I would say that this Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent is not waterproof at all.
Livability describes the overall day-to-day experience of owning and using a tent, and tents that are more comfortable, convenient, and easy to use score the highest in terms of livability. The Ozark Trail Three Room Instant Cabin takes our top spot as the best Ozark Trail tent. With room for 12 and nearly seven-foot ceilings, it checks all our boxes for a big family tent, but even as cabin shelters go, this one is special. Our favorite Ozark Trail tent currently is the Ozark Trail Three Room Instant Cabin. This tent’s combination of floor space, livability, and value make it a home run for large groups or families looking to spread out in style, but this 12-person behemoth won’t be everyone’s first choice. Drape the rain fly over the tent so that the side with the pole sleeve is pointed down against the tent.
Again, I AM a soldier with nearly 30 years experience in putting tents together. This Ozark Trail tent is, sorry to say this, a POS. Find the best hiking/camping product for your next outdoor adventure using our independent reviews and ratings. Overall — hard to knock the bang for the buck this thing gave two people (car camping). This convenient foldable camping chair collapses for easy storage and transportation and has one cup holder. They obviously thought that the huge floor area was enough, but they missed to make the tent more user-friendly.
Ozark Trail makes an affordable quality family tent, and this 10-person instant cabin tent is no different. I am preparing for a camping trip of 10 days and nights down in Florida where it rains a lot and the wind sometimes is pretty strong so I am wondering if the fly will stay put. There is a large space between it and the top of the tent that might be a trap for strong wind so the fly gets ripped off.
I love that we were able to take the top flap off and watch the stars at night during nice weather. Rain fly is too big — it needs one side cut differently ozark trail tents to allow to get in and out of the tent. They claim they are weather tested, but I feel they don’t include rain or wind as elements of the weather.
I still plan to put the sealer and waterproofing on anyway. For the price, this tent served my wife and I well over several camping seasons in PA State Parks. I am now going with a four-season tent though as I’ll be traveling the country and who knows what weather I’ll run into. However, one of the rear hooks (that also seats the fly pole) started pulling out of the seam, so we managed to swap it for a replacement @ a Walmart in North Carolina. The replacement worked fine for the remainder of our tour, including surviving a pretty heavy thunderstorm in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
