Best cordless vacuum: stick vacuum cleaners for your home

With great vacuuming and mopping capabilities, the J7 Plus has a self-emptying base, ability to retract the mopping pads when going over carpets, and intelligent mapping. The Shark Detect Pro packs some pretty great features, especially considering today’s sale price of under $350; one of the most unique is its auto-empty system. The included dock serves as a convenient place to store the shark cordless vacuum, but it also serves as its charging system and dust bin. The vacuum automatically empties into the bagless base and can hold up to 30 days’ worth of debris (no dumping for a whole month!). Thanks to the HEPA filter, it does so while capturing 99.97% of dust and allergens. We long-term tested each vacuum, checking in after one, two, and six months to see how each model held up.

Some upright models automatically adjust the height of the nozzle to accommodate different flooring types while others need to be manually adjusted. They usually come with an onboard hose, wands and attachments for cleaning above the floor or into tight spaces. Uprights usually provide the best cleaning performance on deep-pile carpets. This machine left my hard floors cleaner and drier than any other mop vac I tested, and it runs for 40 minutes on a single charge (twice as long as the Floor One S5 Combo).

On test, we found it excelled when cleaning hard floors, thanks to the inclusion of a laser that highlights microscopic dust invisible to the human eye. We were impressed that when used on Auto mode, the vacuum preserves its battery by automatically adjusting the suction power according to the floor type and volume of dust. There’s also an LCD screen that displays the remaining runtime so you never get caught out by a dead battery mid-clean. The DS4095’s ability to effectively pick up fur and debris nearly matches that of the Dyson V12 Detect Slim. You can easily remove its single-roller brush bar (no tools required) to clear out tangled hair, and the brush bar is surprisingly versatile, working as well on rugs as on bare floors.

When the Vertex Pro was released, one new feature on Shark cordless vacuums was a real-time digital battery life display showing how much battery life you have left. This is a really useful feature, but we did notice that it decreases by only ten percentage points at a time. While they’re typically more affordable, Shark’s vacuums are not as sleek and stylish as Dyson’s, and they’re often heavier too. While they come with useful technology such as the ability to stop hair getting tangled around the brush head and flexible wands to ensure you can clean in hard-to-reach places, they’re not as high-tech as Dyson’s offerings. Dyson’s vacuums tend to have longer-lasting batteries than Shark’s models too.

Systems like these are especially handy on cordless stick vacuums, as battery efficiency is maximized without compromising cleaning performance. This convertible hand-and-stick vacuum from Shark is a great option for anyone looking for a lightweight, easy-to-store bissell crosswave cordless vacuum with powerful suction and convenient technological features that streamline cleaning. Why you should buy the Wyze Cordless Stick VacuumKeen to compete with some of the best cordless vacuums, the Wyze Cordless Stick Vacuum is a bargain for what it provides.

While we haven’t tested this specific model, we’ve tested Dyson’s previous Car & Boat handheld vacuum along with enough Dyson stick vacuums to know how well they clean and how easy they are to use and maintain. Great suction along with its innovative hair-grabbing tool make it especially effective at removing pet hair from upholstery and other fabrics, though its overall size and shape may make maneuvering into tight spaces tricky. It has a strong suction that won’t cause damage to hardwood floors, and it comes with helpful attachments like a pet crevice tool and an upholstery tool.

We do think the canister is best used from the ground, rather than trying to carry it while also maneuvering the extension wand, but that’s a personal preference. Since we started testing vacuums here at The Spruce years ago, the Shark brand has regularly risen to the top of the pack. The brand consistently shows up with powerful suction, sturdy yet maneuverable designs, and convenient additions that make it easier to clean quickly and most importantly, thoroughly.

Shark is a well-known manufacturer of vacuums, and many of their models have a convenient cordless design. EBay is the place to purchase new, used, and eBay Refurbished vacuum cleaners. And if you have hard floors, look for a vacuum cleaner that comes with a dedicated cleaner head, which has a softer brush roll to ensure the flooring isn’t damaged when vacuuming. These days, cordless vacuums are some of the most powerful vacuums when it comes to suction and they ensure you’re not restricted by the length of the wire.
