It has four multifunction alarms and a snooze alarm, making it a great option for oversleepers on the go. Another feature that makes it a great traveler’s watch is that it has 29 time zones built-in. Other standard features like a countdown timer and day date are included. One of the coolest features is a moon/tide graphic display on the upper corner of the face.

Solar should be okay indoors, especially if it’s an g shock protection all-digital model. The watch can be charged from indoor fluorescent lights. The higher-end analog models might need more light to stay fully charged. They are both solar-powered, have a bright EL backlight, and excellent water resistance.
With the launch of its first watch in 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market. But the question remains, why are these watches so popular? Their durability is part of the appeal, but most of the brand’s wearers don’t need a watch that can survive being rolled over by a truck at their desk jobs.
Their timepieces feature innovative designs that are great for every lifestyle. Whether you prefer analogue or digital, you’ll find a watch that meets your needs. Shopping in Japan brings the best in Casio JDM watches right to you.
All of these are digital-only except for the Mudmaster models. I think any G-Shock will be okay if exposed to mud though some may require more thorough cleaning than others if there is extreme/constant exposure. For a more affordable but more basic option (without Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6, world time, multiple alarms, and the auto-activated backlight), see the DW-5600E-1V in our basic G-Shock watches guide.
“There is room to grow the G-Shock brand in Asia,” Mr. Masuda said, adding that revived designs — like the recent metallic version of the classic black 1983 model — and collaborations also do well. The G-SHOCK structure absorbs and repels strong shock and vibrations. This core G-Shock technology continues its perpetual evolution. Knobby protective forms are adopted for the case and bezel design. These projections guard the watch against impact such as dropping shocks from any directions.
The Rangeman really hits the sweet-spot of G-Shocks lineup. With its practical features, durability and price-point, it represents the best of what G-shocks are meant to be. On the other hand, G-shock watches are neither subtle, luxurious nor “smart.” They are ruthlessly utilitarian and some models can be downright ugly and bulky. In a nut-shell, G-shocks are rugged yet affordable timepieces designed for demanding outdoor pursuits and hard-use professional applications like military, scuba diving, and law enforcement.
I would be willing to spend the extra money fro a possible investment, otherwise I’d probably just go with the GWM5610-1. Yes GA1100-9G has the Twin Sensor with compass and thermometer. Personally I would prefer a G-STEEL model as I would want Tough Solar power on an analog G-Shock. I think the GSTS100G-1A and GSTS300G-1A9 might be the same shade of gold.
