The Shock Over Casios New G

The MTG-B1000 strikes the perfect balance of G-Shock ruggedness and contemporary stainless steel styling. It also started the trend of smaller analog-digital G-Shock watches, after they got larger and larger in the 2010s. It’s been described as “mid-size” by Casio, but we’d say it’s more like a large size (when categorizing G-Shocks as small, mid-size, large, and extra-large).

You can completely depend on our watches in every situation. That’s right, the humble G Shock is a certified astronaut watch. Specifically, the DW-5600C, DW-5600E, DW-5900, DW-6600 and DW-6900 models are all flight-qualified for NASA space travel.

“There is room to grow the G-Shock brand in Asia,” Mr. Masuda said, adding that revived designs — like the recent metallic version of the classic black 1983 model — and collaborations also do well. The G-SHOCK structure absorbs and repels strong shock baby g shock and vibrations. This core G-Shock technology continues its perpetual evolution. Knobby protective forms are adopted for the case and bezel design. These projections guard the watch against impact such as dropping shocks from any directions.

As long as you see the charge level remaining at “High” you don’t have to worry about it. The manual says that 8 hours of indoor fluorescent lighting is required each day for normal daily operations. That will not fully charge the watch from a lower level, but assuming the g shock protection watch is already fully charged it should be okay, especially if it gets some outdoor light too. If the charge level drops to “Medium,” putting it close to a desk light or next to a window for a while will help. I suggest making sure that Power Save mode is activated.

I’ve never had a real watch, something good and which i’ll care, so this will be my very first one and g shock. I wonder if it’s worth for the price as i need a long life watch. I’m willing to change battery as long as it’s rechargeable as well. In that price range I would recommend the GWM5610 (#1 pick), G Mudman (#10) or analog-digital AWGM100B-1A (#9).

It has four multifunction alarms and a snooze alarm, making it a great option for oversleepers on the go. Another feature that makes it a great traveler’s watch is that it has 29 time baby g shock zones built-in. Other standard features like a countdown timer and day date are included. One of the coolest features is a moon/tide graphic display on the upper corner of the face.

The con if you want to choose this option though, is that its durability makes it bulky, and somewhat underwhelming in terms of appeal. I have the GW6900, which is the slightly thicker “round” version of the GW5610, a DW6900 with 6-band radio sync and solar power added. I consider it nearly indestructible other than putting the watch head on an anvil or hardened concrete surface, and taking a sledge hammer to it. It’s the reason these and their battery powered DW6900 and DW5600 ancestors have been the favorites of US military personnel for decades now.

Solar should be okay indoors, especially if it’s an all-digital model. The watch can be charged from indoor fluorescent lights. The higher-end analog models might need more light to stay fully charged. They are both solar-powered, have a bright EL backlight, and excellent water resistance.

The face also includes an LCD display for features like world time, stopwatch, countdown timer, 5 daily alarms with 1 snooze alarm, and 12/24 hour format. The basic black GA-700-1B is a best-seller, and other popular military-inspired colors are available in the Utility Color Series seen above. Though this list originally excluded Japan-only models, the GW JF deserves a place on it because of its well-deserved status and popularity around the world. Also, it is not a limited edition but a regularly produced model in Japan, so it is not hard to find and purchase for a reasonable price.
