Note that the ‘A’ button is more recessed than the other buttons so you won’t accidentally hit it and engage the ‘change time’ mode. There’s just something great about the minimalist toughness and value for money in this watch. It’s not even solar, but the battery will last you 11 years if you go careful on the backlight and is cheap to replace. Casio’s released this model with modern minimalist looks – check out the full black and full green models to see if you like them better. In short, this watch has everything that you might expect from a cheap digital beater and then some more. The backlight illuminates the entire screen, giving you perfect visibility.
GShock Atomic and Solar power watches are the newest and the hottest style from Casio. Some other interesting features on the watches are 200 meter water resistance, shock resistant, stopwatch, alarm and world time. It is the only smaller “mid-size” G-Shock (48.6 millimeters wide) with a third analog hand to display the second (a feature usually reserved for higher-end models). It is also one of the few mid-size analog G-Shocks with a front-facing light button for easy access. This watch also has a one-press stopwatch button that will activate the stopwatch immediately from timekeeping mode and a 120-record lap time memory that includes the date and time.
Thankfully, Casio seems to provide a steady supply of these less expensive models, so you can readily snag one. These get backordered fast, because they’re so damn great. Styled just like the originals, but now with full metal construction, including baby g shock bracelets on some models. These look like the 1980s but function futuristically with solar power. The GST-B400AD also comes in stainless steel, but is red and black. While the GST-B400BD has a darker stainless steel band and a blue face.
I just ned the time and the feeling i have a wrist watch everyday, it feels complete. Thanks, you would need to get a strap adapter to use a nato strap but I’m not sure where to get one for that model. The most common strap adapters are for the 5600 series, DW/GW-6900, and Rangeman, but those are digital models.
I consider it nearly indestructible other than putting the watch head on an anvil or hardened concrete surface, and taking a sledge hammer to it. It’s the reason these and their battery powered DW6900 and DW5600 ancestors have been the favorites of US military personnel for decades now. They are about the same but the GWG-1000 will use up the battery at a slightly faster rate . This shouldn’t be an issue if you keep the watch fully charged. How often you use the sensors and certain features will also affect the battery life. Features that move the hands such as the compass and hand shift feature may also use up more battery than the GW-9400 would.
This model also comes with a hand-shift feature that allows you to move the hands of watch away to read the digital screens for a few seconds. Analog/digital hybrid G-Shocks all have traditional watch hands, giving them at-a-glance legibility and a sense of time itself that’s lacking on a fully digital display. There’s something about looking at a whole watch dial that offers a broader perspective on time, and this is certainly part of the allure here. For his next experiment, Mr Ibe equipped a watch with a ball-like protective cage.
Reading forums and my manual as a guide, it appears I am diving with tanks at my own risk and I cannot operate the buttons underwater . Monochrome LCD is easy to read in sunlight unlike a backlit smartphone display. The three brands unite to honor the form and function of fighter jet design and aeronautical engineering.
With its modern minimalist look, the watch is one of the better-looking G-Shocks. It’s rugged, and yet looks good enough to wear into the office. Overall, it is a simple analog G-Shock for around $50 that gets the job done. Perfect if you’re looking for a cheap analog watch that’s indestructible, waterproof, and reliable in all conditions.
