Amd Ryzen 7 3700x Review

It doesn’t have the flashy, bright colors that the enthusiast motherboards offer, but the GIGABYTE B550M AORUS PRO does offer some limited RGB lighting. PCIe slots-wise, the AORUS PRO features one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for your graphics card, one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot running on x4 and one x1 slot for expansion cards like sound, network and other cards. For storage, the AORUS PRO features two M.2 slots, however note that only one of them will run on the PCIe 4.0 , while the one powered by your chipset will run on PCIe 3.0. So, if you plan on running two PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs, this is not the board for you.

But the tide turned with each month that passed, and over time more and more people would actually consider an AMD processor-based PC for their next purchase. That shift in the paradigm is big when you think about Intel’s monopolized position in the desktop processor market. Can barely cool it with a giant Noctua cooler in good ventilated mesh case getting upper 70c temps in games, i want to spit in a face to all those amd gtx 1080 8gb shills on reddit who keep saying that stock cooler is good enough for this cpu. Had to set negative voltage offset to run it reasonably cool but after this single core performance dropped to 6700k level, what a shame. Ryzen series 3000, developed under the codename ‘Matisse’, is fabbed on a 7nm node with a new chiplet design. Ryzen has been a successful run for AMD ever since the first generation Ryzen was launched.

The Radeon RX Vega 64 reference design has a 295 W TDP, which resulted in our test system consuming 378 W when gaming. Regardless, you can still expect a performance bump if you switch from the Radeon RX Vega 64 to the Radeon RX 5700 XT. We have included separate results below of the Ryzen X with a Radeon RX 5700 XT to show the performance potential of combining the two 7 nm chips. AMD has also omitted an iGPU, with the CPU and I/O dies now housed separately under the heat spreader.

Even though all of these chipsets support overclocking, you will get slightly better performance out of X570 chipsets. Whether or not you’re a fan of AMD and plan to buy a Ryzen 3000 series processor, they are a clear win for all consumers. The Ryzen 3000 series is competitive across the board and offers plenty of value at every price point. Gamers, content creators, and even your every day, mainstream users have something to look forward too with the Ryzen 3000 series, and we look forward to seeing what AMD does next. With a TDP of 65 W, the Ryzen X consumes typical power levels for a modern PC.

I’ve covered the architectural updates in detail elsewhere , so I’m not going to rehash that here. Basically, Zen 2 is better, smaller, and faster than Zen+ and the original Zen architectures. That depends on what you’re doing, so let’s get to the benchmarks.
