Weber Rolls Out New Genesis II Gas Grills

You can use the thin side for fish or other delicate meats and the wider side for steaks and similar cuts. These transfer heat very well and maintain sturdiness and rigidity even after many different cookout sessions. Despite its size, you can still implement weber q the iGrill3 thermometer and mount it right on the side for easy internal temperature monitoring. You can fold the left one down if you’re pressed for space. Both of these areas are warmed by two burners that can emit 26,500 BTUs of heat combined.

All three burners are lit by the same ignition module and its corresponding igniter button. You have to supply it with AA disposable batteries, as you do with most other propane grills. Each of the burners have their own weather-resistant electrodes, however, to improve reliability.

Weber’s warranty covers burner hoods on the 2022 Genesis models and all parts on the Spirit II models for 10 years. Or you could find third-party options that claim higher performance and long lifespans (though we haven’t tested these claims ourselves). That said, the Weber Spirit weber genesis 2 II E-210 excels at its primary function—straight-up grilling. This little two-burner grill puts a mean sear on steaks, chops, and burgers. It has good heat control and can maintain a steady medium to medium-low for grilling chicken pieces with rendered skin and sticky glaze.

But thermometers in the lid are several inches above the cooking grate and don’t accurately report the temperature on the surface where you’re actually cooking your food. Consider getting an inexpensive infrared thermometer to gauge the temperature of the cooking grates. The size and power of the Weber Genesis II S-435 complement its impressive engineering. Flavorizer bars protect your food from flame ups by blocking the burners from drippings. Due to the proximity to the burners, the stainless steel Flavorizer bars on this Weber Genesis natural gas grill get incredibly hot.

And with each new version of the models we’re familiar with, the most important characteristics—such as quality of materials and construction—are the same. We spoke again with Joe Salvaggio of Big Apple BBQ about the newest models, and we examined our main contenders in person at Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Bering’s in Houston. Our tests were designed and run by Wirecutter senior staff writer Lesley Stockton, who has a decade of experience in professional kitchens, much of it spent on the grill station. Senior staff writer Tim Heffernan, who wrote the original version of this guide, helped with testing, along with senior staff writer Michael Sullivan. Sam Sifton, then food editor of The New York Times, also joined in the testing and added his extensive knowledge.

I appreciate any purchase you make in support of the work I do. The Weber Genesis II SE-335 Gas Grill has been discontinued. Models of this version will remain in stores for portable bbq a few months, but once they are gone, this grill will not be available. For the latest versions of this grill see my article on the Weber Genesis Gas Grill for 2022.
