And I try really hard to maximize all of those batteries by carefully planning my flights because chances are I won’t find a wall outlet to top them off, nor do I have the optional $80 car charger. The charging hub, which was available for the original Mavic Mini, also has a USB-C port. That means you can easily power it with an external battery pack in your backpack and have it charge your drone’s batteries as you move from one location to another.
After a successful connection, you can access the aircraft album and download files at 20 MB/s. Note that when you connect the mobile device with the aircraft for the first time, you need to press the indicator button once to confirm connection. Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the mobile device, launch the DJI Fly app, and there will be a prompt to connect to the aircraft. dji fly One thing you should keep in mind is where you want to show your photos and in which format and size. Personally, I probably wouldn’t make large prints out of most of these photos, but I’d post almost all of them on my Instagram grid. Unedited footage can look a bit flat and underexposed in overcast scenes; it’s clear DJI processes footage cautiously and with video editors in mind. Digital zooming is limited to about 2x if you’re shooting in 4K, though you can get usable 3x zoom footage at 1080p. As soon as the light drops, though, so too does the Mini 2’s usable zoom range, and indeed usable footage.
Finally, the app opens up manual photo shooting with an optional shutter speed of up to four seconds for photos and 1/60 seconds for video, and a max ISO of 3200 across both modes. It also features extra spare rotary blades and screws, a clasp that secures the blades in place, an 18W power charger, and a handy bag for transporting the drone and all its accessories. The standard package sees the mini-drone ship with a battery, camera guard, controller, and a few cable and rotary blade options, and costs $449 / £419 / AU$749.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Mavic Mini’s price tag, as it could well dip into bargain territory. A notable omission, when compared to the original Mavic Mini’s Fly More combo, is the 360-degree propeller guard. As for price, this premium package will set you back $559 / £549 / AU$949. The best thing about the new DJI Mini 2 is its controller.
