Alen BreatheSmart Air Purifier

Excellent instructions and labeled controls on how to use the air purifier right out of the box. We try to keep up with sales for every air purifier we review; Alen BreatheSmart Classic sales included. In the short-term the cost of Alen BreatheSmart Classic might appear quite high but the important part – the long-term cost – is minimal. Due to larger coverage, Alen BreatheSmart is considered a large room air purifier. Equipped with 2+ lbs of activated carbon to absorb smoke and chemicals.

We do not exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly. We do give honest reviews so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices. User feedback is strongly positive whether the purifier was bought to combat bad odors or to help alleviate allergy symptoms, so it’s a good all-rounder too.

And when harmful particles are detected, Auto-mode adjusts purifying power to keep your air pure 24/7. That depends on the air quality in your living space (or wherever you’ve placed your unit). Most manufacturers recommend that you change the filter every three to six months, but if the air quality is particularly poor, you may have to change your filters more often. The lasko pedestal fans features a HEPA Pure filter that is certified to capture 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns. It was fascinating to see the air quality sensor change in real-time as I began dusting and hoovering my apartment. From what had been strictly good air, once I had disturbed the dust particles the sensor quickly changed to orange then red, and to my surprise even purple, signaling poor air quality!

It is designed to improve the respiratory health of those who use it, and their varying model sizes are equipped to handle spaces of different sizes. Alen offers a filter subscription service that guarantees your air purifier uses the best filters for your specific needs. They offer monthly, quarterly or yearly subscriptions and will sign you up to receive replacement filters based on your needs and the size of your Alen Air Purifier. It’s also easy to modify each purifier depending on your needs.

In conjunction with this, the more high-tech air purifiers can employ an extra line of defense. There are also models that can ionize incoming particles, which are then sucked in by metal plates or other treated substances. For living rooms or wide open office spaces, the Alen BreatheSmart comes in as one of the best bets — in fact, it’s the No. 1 overall recommended product. Efficiency is one of the biggest draws for this one, thanks to a Smart Sensor that not only keeps you apprised of the air quality but adjusts the fan speed to fit the job.

The Classic is a very reliable model but it’s better to be safe than sorry. At the top fan speed setting, the noise levels rise to 56 dB which is not ideal. Granted, the smaller Alen BreatheSmart FLEX also has 55 dB noise levels at Turbo Speed but the new 45i and 75i models have managed to reduce that number to 49 dB, a considerable difference.

It has a real time air quality indicator and sensor on-board as well as the ability to manually change modes or fan speeds. There are also two interchangeable covers, classic white or wood tone. A solid option if you’re looking for a large purifier with the power to address big spaces. Three upgraded replacement filters are available for the Alen BreathSmart air purifier.

I’m pleased to say it has lived up to the expectations of an Alen product. As I am a light sleeper, I thought utilizing the purifier in the bedroom would be a no-go area. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find, on the lowest setting it is barely noticeable. I also had no issues on the second lowest setting either, which may have even helped send me off to sleep with its gentle ASMR-esq pink noise hum.

Polluted air first passes through a washable Pre-Filter, capturing large particles. Air then moves through HEPA type material where 99.9% of PM2.5 and 99% of PM0.3 are captured. Next, an antimicrobial layer on the HEPA media kills captured germs & microbes. Finally, the air passes through the activated carbon layer which filters out household chemicals, VOCs, odors and pollution.
