The Nvidia Geforce Rtx 2070 Super & Rtx 2060 Super Review

Meanwhile, coming in below the RTX 2070 Super at the new price tier of $399 is the RTX 2060 Super. This is a card that is for all intents and purposes a RTX 2070 at a lower price; it uses an ever-so-slightly cut-down version of TU106 to deliver performance that is within 1% of the RTX 2070. All told, NVIDIA has done something fairly similar here as with the RTX 2070 Super, disabling some SMs and cranking up the clockspeeds to compensate. The end result is a card with 34 of 36 SMs enabled, and some extra clocks to help minimize the gap. By the numbers it delivers 96% of RTX 2070’s shading/texturing/geometry performance, but 102% of its ROP/rasterization performance.

I’m genuinely impressed by how well both of these new AMD cards perform in 1440p gaming. In Far Cry 5, frame rates regularly exceeded 90 fps on max settings, and the 5700 XT outperformed Nvidia’s RTX 2060 Super and came close to the higher-priced 2070 Super in most of my tests. However, I did find that frame rates between the AMD and Nvidia cards can vary a lot depending on the game.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the specifications, what’s changed and just how fast the RTX 2070 Super is. Today I’ll be pitching Nvidia’s latest pair of RTX mid-range graphics cards against their predecessors to see just how fast these new tweaked kids on the block are – namely the RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super. You’d be right in thinking the RTX series hasn’t been around long, yet less than 12 months on, Nvidia has ousted a whole new range of graphics cards – the RTX Super series. Nvidia’s latest graphics cards have featured surprising performance in 4K gaming, but we weren’t expecting the Nvidia RTX 2070 to deliver here. INNO3D introduces its new INNO3D GeForce RTX 30 Series with an exciting range of cutting-edge fans including the iCHILL X4 with programmable RGB that boasts large triple 9cm fan with a side rotor fan to cool the MOSFET. Specifically designed to be an ultimate cooling solution and with factory overclock so that all you have to do is plug and play your favourite games straight from the box.

Now you’re probably saying to yourself at this stage, well that’s great but the 1080 is probably much cheaper and it’s only 5% less effective, and that’s where you would be wrong. Again, dependant on which card you go for, the 2070 is pretty much the same price as the 1080. It’s been developed to be competitive in pricing gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb whilst still being equipped with the latest tech. So to cut a long story short, the 1080 which is still a fantastic card, is the lesser of the 2 on a number of different tests and you should definitely reconsider if you were thinking about buying one. This is what allows us to be so confident in the products we recommend.

The 1080ti more than keeps up at 4K at max details , and by the time it doesn’t, there will be faster cards that do. The competition for the new Super cards will of course be AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 series. There are no perfect 1-to-1 comparisons here since AMD and NVIDIA are selling at slightly different prices. But the RTX 2060 Super is clearly positioned to squeeze both the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT, while the gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb Super would be NVIDIA’s trump card over the RX 5700 XT. To what degree of course remains to be seen in a few days when AMD’s new cards launch.

Despite this increase in performance, we don’t really see any dramatic rise in temperatures. Like most GPUs, the fans run in idle until needed but the card has been measured at around 33 DBa, which is considered excellent. Overclock– Overclocking refers to pushing the clock speed of a component higher to get more performance. Usually, this is done by the user, but the cards we’re listing here today all boast “factory overclocks”, which is overclocking done by the manufacturer and proven stable. Clock Speed– Clock speed refers to the internal, “core” clock of the graphics processor.

rtx 2070

AMD showed their cards early , so NVIDIA and the rest of the world were able to see what kind of performance AMD is expecting to get and at what prices those cards will roll out. When they are released on July 9th, the GeForce RTX 20 series Super cards are going to be sharing store shelves with the rest of the GeForce RTX 20 series cards. Some cards like the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 are set to go away, while other cards like the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2060 will remain on the market as-is. In practice, it’s probably best to think of the new cards as NVIDIA executing as either a price cut or a spec bump – depending on if you see the glass as half-empty or half-full – all without meaningfully changing their price tiers.
