Dewalt Recalls Table Saws Due To Laceration Hazard
Like many things, these more “compact”, “portable” saws don’t offer all the adjustments that nicer cabinet saws offer. That project would involve putting up stud walls, doorways, a bathroom and a kitchen. There would be some trim work of course but the original building is very sparse and there would be little work that needs to be matched.
It’s a great little saw and I was also wondering if they had a retrofit guard assy. That being said I only use the guard when ripping 2x lumber. I made zero clearance inserts that I use most of the time in conjunction with my homemade push stick and a rubber trowel/float that I.use to push the material tight to the fence and table. November 19, 2011This is not a high-end saw and isn’t designed or manufactured for longevity–a lot of the parts are plastic and thin metal.
If the fence and the miter slot were closer together at the rear of the saw, the dial indicator has a negative reading. If the blade and the miter slot were father apart at the rear of dewalt tools the saw, the dial indicator showed a positive reading. A negative reading meant that the materials being cut might be subject to being pinched and a kick back more likely to occur.
Menards brought it in with a large single buy around Christmas and that was it, it is discontinued with them now. The stores around me have a few left, I think I will pick one up the next time they do 11% rebate. The Menards sales person told me when I asked if it was on display that they had do not display orders on that saw, probably because it was a one time buy. Also, I don’t plan on transporting it so I’m not concerned about that.
I have a good experience in the field but it’s not an easy task to pick the right table saw for your needs.
