You can charge the shaver via the station or by plugging the included cord directly into the shaver. The three cutting elements can move independently to maintain constant contact with the skin, regardless of the area that’s being shaved. It took a good 2 minutes before I was confident I had cleaned the shaver. And even then I could make out some small dots of hair clippings here and there. Daily shaving will prevent hairs that grow in different directions from growing too long. While the shaver mowed these down when they were a fin stubble, once they grew they were the often missed, most noticeably on the neck and under the chin.
I am yet to test this feature, so I can’t really comment on its effectiveness. 5050Cs features a Li-ion battery and these generally have good power retention. This shaver has a runtime of 50 minutes and takes about one hour of charging.
We can’t help to notice that Braun has perhaps dropped the AutoSensing motor. The feature was said to read the beard density constantly and change the shaver’s intensity on the go. The effectiveness of this technology was always debatable and we don’t see a major difference in the performance of the shaver in 5050Cs. And we’ve also been through the differences between some of the different models. So now you should be able to go off and buy the electric shaver that works for you with a lot more confidence.
Finally, I would have liked it to be a bit wider and sharper; it just takes me more time to shape my sideburns with the 5090cc compared to other shavers. You have to tilt the shaver so that the extremities of the trimmer will come into contact with the skin. Otherwise just the middle part will do the cutting and depending on what you’re doing this may not be ideal.
Yet, with Macro and Micro-Motions, the series 7 can easily embrace your facial contours and keep constant contact with the skin. The result is that you’ll get a closer shave with fewer passes . But Braun left the built-in trimmer idea and used detachable trimmer technology in the new series 5. The new detachable precision trimmer looks like the dedicated trimmers. I observed the new trimmer is more useful than the older ones. Because I could trim off my full beard with the new precision trimmer. The trimming result was not as satisfactory as the professional trimmers though. However, it might be a downside as well for the users who don’t like to use brute force.
Other than that, the blades are sharp enough and give a close shave. It performs perfectly well on the cheeks and neck without having to go over any spot multiple times. However, we do notice that the motor is perhaps less powerful than earlier models as it struggles with some areas. It is noteworthy that these shaving elements are flexible. This means when going through different facial contours, depending on the degree of pressure put on these blades they move in up and down directions. They move independently of each other but are synchronized for better shaving performance.
