It isn’t that loud, more of a digital noise that their other Dewalt brushless tools though. It is a pain trying to find attachments unless you have the adapter with you. So if you use it on jobs or for a living buy dewalt blades and attachments cause you will lot find them at homedepot or lowes. I wanted to a cordless model, so I decided to buy the DeWalt, the #1 Best Seller seller on Amazon.com, with a 90% five-star rating. The version I bought is the DEWALT DCS355D1 20V XR Lithium-Ion Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit which came with a bag and a bunch of accessories.
Sounds like the motor is working really hard while cutting. These oscillating tools are powered by DEWALT batteries of a compatible series and matching voltage. I loved the concept, but I did have issues with the tool itself. Blade changes were a pain and I had to periodically re-tighten them the with an allen wrench. I decided to replace it because it got really hot under extended use,feel the heat through work gloves hot. Still, I got a decent life span from dewalt Hand tools the tool, considering the price. I haven’t seen a quiet oscillating tool, but in my experience Fein has fewer vibrations. Possible dumb question as I have batteries everywhere, and suspect most of us have more than one, but have you tried different batteries? It did the exact same thing with various tools (light came on briefly but didn’t power the tool otherwise), due to it being unable to charge properly. Of course, it was slower than a reciprocating saw would have done, chewing full-speed. I probably wouldn’t reach for this tool in an open stud-wall situation with both tools on hand, but that’s not what it’s made for.
