The 4K shooter is backed with a 100Mbps data rate and 12MP stills with various panoramic modes. The lack of ND filters speaks more to who DJI had in mind as a potential consumer. Most people don’t go through the hassle of learning about and using ND filters, but I wish it was an option for the few of us who do invest more time in the filming process.
The drone weighs only 249 grams.As expected, the camera has difficulties with highlight in bright sunlight, so take the exposures as raw files, and adjust them in the finishing. Such small image chips suffer from image noise in low light. This is fact of life, but you only notice this in pictures taken in very low light. Super easy to fly, with easy control and clear app. The Fly More Combo package is a lot of fun for the money. When on self-supported bikepacking or backpacking trips the space savings provided by the aftermarket case is important to me. While the Mini 1 battery will fit and allow the drone to fly it really is not meant for the Mini 2. I’d stick to the battery made for it for the best performance. I know reports said Mini 1 li-ion battery can be used with Mini 2 drone, did it turned out it’s fully compatible (it won’t move around in the drone or damage the pins)?
With care, this model can be flown straight off the hand and landed in the same way, although prop guards would be advisable with this method. The key point here is that the Mini 2 is small enough to be taken anywhere and flown anywhere. It can even handle windy conditions, maintaining remarkable stability for such a lightweight drone. Once you finish, you can save and share while on the go. The DJI Mini 2 is the kind of drone we wish we’ve always had. It’s very portable, has a 4K camera, is super light-weight, easy to fly, and has all the best flight features, but costs less than half the price of comparable drones from a few years ago. From beginner to pro pilot, there’s a good reason to consider putting the Mini 2 in your backpack next time you head outside. The focal length is thus the same as the camera on the Mavic 2 has, 24mm f2.8, but with 4 x digital zoom which gives a telephoto focal length equivalent to 96 mm.
Usually when I take out the Mavic 2 Pro, I worry about ND filters, polarizers, and I try to keep the aperture at that sharpest f/5,6 – f/8 range. It’s almost like going from a fully manual SLR to a point-and-shoot camera. I basically just leave everything on auto without being too precious about the technical side of things, trusting that everything I get will actually be quite good. It’s a nice change of pace to my overall approach that I wasn’t expecting when I started my review.
Downloading your images can be as easy as walking near your drone.
