With either watch you won’t worry about mud, dirt or dust gumming up the works inside your watch, so hit that Spartan run with confidence.
They are almost always named with a “man” suffix after the initial Frogman model which itself was named for scuba divers. Three models, the Mudman, Gaussman, Raysman and Rangeman all feature a thick rubber outer layer that surrounds the buttons and case completely, ensuring that they offer mud-resistance. The Master of G watches ceased production in 2000, but there were signs Casio was keen to keep the range alive, not just baby g shock with limited edition releases but with re-designs of some of the old models. The GW-9400 is water resistant , mud resistant , shock resistant, and quite possibly kid resistant. For a solar powered “ABC” watch with a ton of features that can stand up to the abuse the Rangeman can and still look great, I think the price is a steal. I have been threw a number of casios but find this one to the be the best for the cost.
Some say the Rangeman looks more rugged because the buttons stick out of the sides. This gives it a more jagged silhouette compared to the Madman’s rounder, softer outline. The app provides more detailed information and data about your terrain, routes and movements which the watch screen can’t display. Not only is it water and dust resistant, it’s also mud resistant. Gaskets have been fitted to the buttons to ensure the brown stuff doesn’t sneak inside when the weather turns grim.
The screen is divided into different sections to make it easier to read all of the information that is presented. Naturally, the time is presented with the largest font so a quick glance g shock protection at the wrist is all it takes. RANGEMAN is Triple Sensor equipped, which makes it capable of keeping altitude, barometric pressure, temperature, and direction readings at your fingertips.
The company rose to popularity quickly after releasing its first-ever product, a cigarette holder, which proved to be a huge success. Casio became involved in electronics in 1954 when they released Japan’s first electro-mechanical calculator. Maybe it would work for following a route in a helicopter, but even that could only be an approximation.
