As Izumi intended, teenagers make up a decent percentage of the actual purchasing demographic, and many are buying the GA-2100 as their first G-Shock. Today, Casio sells more G-Shock overseas than in Japan in revenue, and the new model is doing very well in North America and Europe – markets that are usually not particularly active.

I’ve never taken a slam that damaged a watch case more than some superficial scuffs. The G-Shock carbon core was never a concern for me. Its spring bar failure that ultimately leads to loss is what you need to worry about.
G-Shock watches are popular enough with the active/law enforcment/military/outdoorsy crowd to begin with, and then the hexagonal “CasiOak” analog-digital timepiece took the world by storm. Certain colors sold out, and watch modders customized it with metal to mimick the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Now, G-Shock is listening to their adoring g shock watch fans by creating a metal version clad in stainless steel. The functionality remains, but the look is decidedly premium with the metal case, bezel, and dial on top of a black resin strap. Other metallic GM-2100 models will include black/green, black/red, and gray/blue. Look for them to go on sale in August and get snatched up very quickly.
You’re looking at the Casio G-Shock GA2110ET-8A, perhaps better known as the grey “Casioak,” which I’ve been wearing on and off ever since I purchased it a few weeks ago.
