G-Shock is a brand of watches manufactured by Casio, which is designed to resist mechanical shocks and vibrations. They are primarily designed for sports, military and outdoor-oriented activities. G-SHOCK watches have a distinct style, and nearly all have some kind of stopwatch feature, countdown time, and light and water resistance. A good feature is the cascading countdown timer that alternates between two defined intervals. The watch also has 4 daily alarms and 1 snooze; 1/100th-second stopwatch; 12/24 hr formats; full auto EL Backlight with afterglow, very good in the dark.
The illumination button does not illuminate the digital display, only the large white blocks light up, its cool looking but the function of watching the digital display is lost in the dark. Casio G-SHOCK watches have endless combinations of features. If you want all the bells and baby g shock whistles, this is not the watch, you need to spend another couple of hundred. I’m not disappointed in my choice, as this is my second G-SHOCK, my first one is 15 years old and still working, and usable. G-SHOCK is a collection, the more you spend, the more options you get.
If you need a great sports watch, this is the brand to look at. Not only are they sturdy, just about every watch has stopwatch functionality, time, and are either light or water resistance. It’s the perfect watch to take with you if you are going for a morning run, hiking up a mountain or anything that is active. If you this sounds like you, you should make an investment in one of the G-Shock watches.
For me the biggest advantage of the GW vs DW6900-1V is the “solar” rechargeable battery. It’s why I abandoned quartz watches in the very early 1980’s during my military career, using Hamilton MIL-W-46374B and GG-W-113 watches, alternating periodically between them. I could always sync to a WWV HF signal or a comm center chronometer every few days. When you’re out in some Godforsaken wilderness, desert wasteland or jungle, watch battery replacement isn’t feasible. If outside a region covered by one of the LF time signals (e.g. WWVB), it will continue working just fine, with the ability to set the time manually as needed, which shouldn’t be very often. The moderate size makes it much easier to keep under a sleeve when necessary and much less likely to get snagged and caught on equipment, the consequences of which could be injurious.
The time or date is also shown on a small digital display and the watch features magnetic resistance, 1 daily alarm, stopwatch, and auto calendar. The Casio G-Lide Ana-Digi GAX100B-1A Black is a nice looking watch, The bright g shock protection white hands stand out and makes seeing time Ana at a a glance fabulous. This is a large watch, this could be a good or bad, depending what you use it for. If you are using for a daily watch,,, hands down great watch.
