The Casio-owned brand has been around for a few decades and their design aesthetic is recognizable by many. The square-shaped cases are often chunky and rugged-looking, giving wearers a sense of security that bumps and scrapes won’t damage their G-Shocks. The GA A is a fresh take on the Casio G-Shock and one that has exploded in popularity amongst watch enthusiasts since it was released. It’s easy to see how people find charm in this watch, regardless if you are a fan of the G-Shock design or not. The watch looks extremely rugged and sporty, but at the same time, Casio has successfully given it a sleek and elegant look.

Tastes will obviously differ, but there’s something fun and vibrant about the red that doesn’t come through in the black. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available. Some of these models may be more readily available in some countries in regions like Southeast Asia, but beware of fakes at unauthorized shops and online. Also, there are some online scams involving the GA A1 and other popular G-Shock models, where some e-commerce websites end up shipping a completely different model. Stick with reputable authorized retailers and avoid unknown stores. Thanks to its extremely high level of durability, resin is the ideal material for watches.

For me, this is the appeal of my bright red G-Shock GA-2100. See, when it comes to watches that I’m actually willing to throw down cold hard cash for, I tend more toward the conservative. Spare dials, classic designs, and diameters that wear easy. Lume the hour markers as well as the hands or make the LED cast better light across the hands too. The trip to town turned into a mini watch meetup where TheTickTockCollector, HalfWatchTuesday co-creator Jumping Jalapeno and WatchDeclan were assembled in Mappin and Webb. After playing with some high end pieces we set off to see Simon and cross his palm with silver.

This shock and water-resistant watch features a stunning crystal clear case and band, while the white and black face creates some nice contrast. G-Shock’s usual suite of features, including a world clock, optional 24-hour time, and many more, are all here and accounted for, creating a rugged watch that will complement any look. At 9 o’clock, it also has an analog day display that displays the day of the week. Lastly, we have a digital display presented between about 3 and 6 o’clock. This digital display is integrated discreetly and blends in well with the dial. In addition, the watch has a world timer that allows you to change time zones with just a few button presses.

The GA2100-1a1 appeared on the gram and elsewhere online and the case shape and dial just grabbed me. It looks like a stealth Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, possible a carbon off shore even. Blacked out with darkened lume, inverted LCD and that tell tale octagon bezel, it just looked stunning. I personally love the design, G-Shock has surprised with it’s a sharp and sleek design, after all, it is similar to the historical ‘Royal Oak’. But it is very important to understand in the matter of ‘Tech’ no one can beat the ‘Japanese Technology’ and in no space, they have given so many functions. I admit it is no match to the G-Shock ‘origin’ (GMW-B5000) but still it is classy and powerful.

The GA-2100 series appears to be G-Shock’s most successful new model launch since the GMW-B5000. The blackout GA A1, one of three debut models from 2019, is still widely sold out and unavailable. The new GA-2110SU-3A (GA2110SU-3A in the U.S.) has been selling out quickly at some American retailers.

The strap is fit for purpose and it has a quick release, but it isn’t easy to find an alternative aftermarket strap for this model. The only gripe with these is that they kept the buttons silver – this is the only non-stealth aspect of the watch. The use of the Carbon Core Guard structure allows the GA-2100 to be the slimmest G-Shock of all current models. The height and width of the watch is considered mid-size, rather than the large size of most analog G-Shock watches, and the watch wears very light and comfortably. The GA-2100 is currently the lightest analog-digital G-Shock model at 51 grams.
