In 2007, Ralph Lauren Corporation acquired the NBC share of RL Media and the website was relaunched as ralphlauren.com. In September 2015, it was announced that Stefan Larsson would replace the company’s founder, Ralph Lauren, as CEO in November. Lauren stayed on as executive chairman and chief creative officer.
And this will last all day into the next day. The sillage and longevity of this beast are the best that I have. I can’t compare it to the original as I’m only thirty, I get mixed reviews from people but me and my Mrs love it. I mainly wear this as an everyday cologne outside of work/office settings. It is my signature scent and although I’ve seen mixed comments about the formula changing, it seems similar to me.
Pine, wood, musk, tobacco, leather, but almost immediately settles into a “dirty talc and spice” feel. It is green with the smell of fallen leaves in Jungle. Current formulation is absolutely wonderful. Pine & oakmoss wrapped in ambery-balsamic green leather.
Also, the presence of personal body funk (or the dreaded ‘older man smell’) can render this fragrance just a really ugly air pollutant. I’m sure encounters like this have turned more than a few people against Polo. I think men who have a strong natural smell to their person are better off with a fresher fragrance to wear.
When I opened the box the smell was resonating from the package, I was very pleased. I sprayed it on lightly and it was close to what I recalled. You can sense this old masterpiece influenced many scents by Amouage, nasomatto and others. Today it is tough to find a fragrance today that will actually last the whole day. There’s nothing that compares to this 80s powerhouse.
This is deffo not an everyday perfume. To me it’s a special occasional one. You wear Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt it if you want to celebrate something. To me, it smelled like nothing else.
