A couple of hours after application the smell just gets better and better. Fresh, clean, spicy, classy and luxurious. It seems like there will be no performance issues with my item. polo dress shirts I never used the vintage formula but I am more than impressed with the June 2018 product. I was able to smell it on my arm still 8 hours later which is more than satisfactory.
It is such a waste of presenting dignified and mature character. You want to appear well-dressed as well as being up-to-date. Being up-to-date means wearing new product offerings. Each season, styles, colors, cuts and even fabrics change. All too often, in the summer, I witness men wearing faded-out and stained polo shirts and shorts.
Growing up in a catholic country, when I was a kid, some groups would have religious figures going house to house for pray-overs. One I remember was of the Virgin Mary. They give out some green cotton doused with minty green oil, and this reminds me of that.
It was a gift from my sister from the US. It was suggested to her by her husband. Legend has it that my wife was taken in by me as this is what I wore when I first met her.
I really don’t know about the reformulation. The bottle I have is recent and superb. Let me put it this way, if it is reformulated just think of it as a new perfume and it would stand head and shoulders above any new release or any of the new Tom Ford Fougeres. I will always have Polo in my collection, even if I decided to shrink it down to only 10 fragrances. Polo is one of the easiest scents in the world to overspray. I think we’ve all been in the room with a guy who wore too much of this on too warm of a day.
But where Polo shines is in longevity and projection. It lasts 4-6 hours on my skin with 2-3 sprays, and 8-10 hours with 5-6 sprays. Projection is at least arms length throughout.It even has lasted 2 days on fabric.
I’m not sure what the perfumer originally intended to evoke with this scent but in the light of typical colognes these days I smell a pipe smoking hairy lumberjack. Not a pansy rich polo player with palm olive hands. Kinda makes me wish I was in high school in the early 80s when this was a normal everyday scent. I remember seeing the bottle as a kid thinking that that’s what men’s cologne looks like. Vintage Cosmair Polo is by far the king of all fragrances . I purchased my first bottle in 1982 and I couldn’t get enough of it.
I prefer the modern, toned down, version. I remember back in the 80’s and 90’s that I wouldn’t buy a bottle because it was too intense, too much sillage. It was easy to overdo it and end up offending people. I loved the smell then, but I was never bold enough to buy a bottle. Made from soft cotton jersey, this comfortable sleep shirt is styled with a “Polo RL-67” print along the left side. The watch features a large 42mm case, but it’s made from titanium, which should help it feel light and unencumbered on the wrist.
