The pine isn’t terribly realistic, but it smells nice. As time goes on, I can pick up powder, leather, and tobacco. Such an outstanding and iconic green classic.
20 years later she still swears that she remembers me with this perfume. It’s still her favourite, though I now own a lot of perfumes her eyes light up whenever i wear this one. Today’s version of Polo Green only lasts about 2 hours on me and then it’s a skin scent. The OG lasted for 12 or more hours and it still projected and had great silage through the day. Even though I own multiple versions of Polo throughout it’s life cycle, I still choose the modern formula for my day to day wear. My Cosmair bottles are purely for nostalgia and for the collection.
I just adored it, it made me feel rich and powerful. I liked it so much I even wore it to bed. Mind blowing good, everyone wore it and the ladies liked it too. Besides it still holding my number one spot for classic male frags, this bottle remains undefeated. Simple, dignified, and to the point. This bottle and scent helped shape me as a man.

The first full women’s collection was launched the following year. A scent with a strong, spiced woodsy concentration that offers a burst of flavor. Most likely to people who haven´t ever inhaled British Sterling or Canoe. Some say that it was a fragrance of its time, and is hard to wear nowadays.
A very manly scent with hints tobacco, I don’t think this would ever go out of fashion, it was Lauren at his best. It’s also a quite aggressive scent so if someone around you doesn’t like it you’re very likely to annoy people wearing this. It’s not outdated in the sense that an older person (I’m 32) could wear it better. It’s outdated in the Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt sense that it smells like something that belongs to a specific era and that’s really not compatible with the contemporary taste. I can imagine men of my age and even younger wearing this really well back in the 80s, but not now. It’s a very interesting and unique classic scent that’s worth trying just for the sake of your fragrance culture.
I am not sure if it is my imagination but it smells much more pleasant that what it did in December. It could be that the contents had to settle or mature in the bottle as is the case with my Aventus and other fragrances. It is almost like the spicy notes are coming through better now as I could mostly only smell a wet green grass note before. So I do think it comes across as a lot more balanced and richer now. First thing that hit me was a blast of tobacco; not the fresh kind, but resinous, dried tobacco. Took me right back to my grandmother’s house, sitting next to her while she smoked.

Every colleague he’s worked with or student he has taught forever associates him with the scent that remains long after he has left the room. Despite the reformulations through the years and new Polo flankers he insists on his green bottle that to him represents the ultimate man’s man, the ideal gentleman in every sense of the word. I wore it uninterrupted throughout my twenties. It now evokes so many memories when I wear it now I just sink into nostalgia. Woody, green, but floral at the same time. It starts bright, leaving trails of grass and moss, before drying into leather and Patchouli, which for me is its dominant note.
It has amazing projection and lasts all day. This is the gold standard when it comes to masculine smelling men’s fragrances. What I get initially is pine needles and the general smell of being outdoors in the country.
