It’s possible that using the buttons underwater all the time could lead to the seals failing earlier, though it’s uncertain when that would be. If you want to be safe you may want to go with the new Frogman GWF-D1000 or Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000 which both have the compass sensor and now also a depth meter and are designed to be used underwater.
