Thanks to its Carbon Core Guard architecture, the GA-2100 is the thinnest analog-digital G-SHOCK’s ever made. Well, it was until sales of the “Casioak” went nuts . It’s not only remarkably affordable for a watch that is basking in such intense hype, it’s also notably affordable for a G-Shock. At £99.90, it sits at the least expensive price point across the entire brand. Frankly, for that amount of money, if you want to see what all the fuss is about, it’s almost hard to justify not buying it. The backlight is a dial illumination that allows you to use this watch in the dark.
If you are not familiar with the CasiOak series pause and look it up now as before we examine the technical details, we must address the elephant in the room. The new Casio bears more than a passing resemblance to an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. A unique and defining design, the most striking element of the watch was, and still is, its octagonal bezel which is based on the outer hatch of an old-style diving helmet. This variant of the GA-2100 flies under the radar with a stealthed-out aesthetic featuring greyed hands against a dial that looks like it was 3D printed. But don’t worry, this is a G-Shock after all, and you can still display the time on the digital screen. The blackout GA A1 is still sold out everywhere, but more stock is expected in the coming months, and we will make a new post when it is available.

A downside is that the hour markers do not have lume on them, but still, the color of them matches the luminescence rather well. The Casio GA-2100 series has the same 8-sided bezel design, and it is no surprise that significant parallels have been drawn between the external appearance of the two watches.
High-strength resin material, which is reinforced with carbon fibers, makes it possible to create a 49mm case that is a mere 11.8 mm thin, which is the thinnest among G-SHOCK combination models. The black plastic strap secures with a buckle clasp and the watch is water-resistant to 200m. The new GM-2100 retains the streamlined form and slim profile of the GA-2100, but adds a new forged metal bezel to give the watch a sharper look. A round hairline finish is applied to the top surface of the bezel and a mirror polish to the sides, giving it a beautiful metallic gleam.
