But Casio has been making watches in loud colors in this general shape for years, so why does the GA-2100 suddenly seem to have claimed the mantle of Royal Oak on a hot dog budget? The GA-2100 series appears to be G-Shock’s most successful new model launch since the GMW-B5000.

Allowing you to customise the look, it comes fitted with an interchangeable strap, and to finish, it’s water resistant for up to 200 metres. The watch features a recognizable octagon design first brought forth in the original DW-5000C.
The new GA-2100, also known as CasiOak due to the case’s that resembles an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, breaks away from the square-shaped case. While the G-Shocks have been analog before, the GA-2100 presents the handset front and center, consistently overtaking the digital display and g shock protection giving the watch a familiarity that mechanical watch collectors will love. I admit it is no match to the G-Shock ‘origin’ (GMW-B5000) but still it is classy and powerful. It gives a good feel on hands, and not like the other G-shock’s that feel bulky on hands. The strap is really of high-quality rubber and it gives a premium look.
