The solid color might be subtle, but the tailoring is noticeable to those that get true style. Refined and sleek, this classic was made to impress. A scent with a strong, spiced woodsy concentration that offers a burst of flavor. Most likely to people who haven´t ever inhaled British Sterling or Canoe.
But it suits an older man best I think, so not quite for me yet. I can’t compare it to the original as I’m only thirty, I get mixed reviews from people but me and my Mrs love it. I mainly wear this as an everyday cologne outside of work/office settings. It is my signature scent and although I’ve seen mixed comments about the formula changing, it seems similar to me.
This is the kind of fragrance that they don’t make now (unless it’s niche). I own two formulas – a bottle from 1997 and a bottle from 2014. The so called “vintage” is heavier on leather and has much darker pine note. The newer one is focused on the cigarette “ash” and has a lighter green pine note . It opens up green but definitely it’s dark green and ashy.
It was a gift from my sister from the US. It was suggested to her by her husband. Legend has it that my wife was taken in by me as this is what I wore when I first met her.

The dry-down maintains the green, woody vibe, and the patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, leather and tobacco keep it dark and polo dress shirts mature. I do also get the geranium, jasmine and chamomile. In fact, everything is well balanced and well blended.
Pine, wood, musk, tobacco, leather, but almost immediately settles into a “dirty talc and spice” feel. It is green with the smell of fallen leaves in Jungle. Current formulation is absolutely wonderful. Pine & oakmoss wrapped in ambery-balsamic green leather.
For me, it’s difficult to separate the emotional connection and memories associated with this scent from the actual fragrance. Polo is a deep, heavy scent; it’s a well-balanced blend of greens, herbs, spice, and leather. It can be overpowering if applied to heavily, but used in moderation it’s simply a great all-purpose fragrance.
You’re either gonna love it or hate it. Longevity is weak to moderate and sillage good for an hour. Then it becomes a very nice skinscent w/ soft projection.
