Legend has it that my wife was taken in by me as this is what I wore when I first met her. 20 years later she still swears that she remembers me with this perfume. It’s still her favourite, though I now own a lot of perfumes her eyes light up whenever i wear this one.
In 1972, Lauren released a short-sleeve cotton shirt in 24 colors. This design, emblazoned with the company’s famed logo—that of a polo player, created by tennis pro René Lacoste—became the brand’s signature look. Still smells great but unfortunately for me my stepfather still wears this and I have a hard time wearing this and feeling like it’s my own.
It is almost like the spicy notes are coming through better now as I could mostly only smell a wet green grass note before. So I do think it comes across as a lot more balanced and richer now. I wore this infrequently in high school and only recently reacquired it.
Everyone needs a few anchor-points back to their young and carefree days, and funnily enough, Polo Green has become one of mine from a memory I will always look back on with a smile. My poor ERG forever stunk of Polo Green after that, the smell literally never vanished! Back in the day this stuff was a whole forest crushed and compressed into liquid form and then crammed into a bottle! Whatever formulation I had in mid 90’s sure smelled nice, news didn’t travel fast and nobody paged me to let me know that the original is no more.
