Polo by Ralph Lauren (“Polo Green”) is one that I bought again. It’s somewhat divisive; I get the best and worst comments on this one, but ralph lauren t shirt the good comments outweigh the bad by far. On the initial spray you definitely get the pine and the patchouli, almost overwhelming.
This is leafy and dry tobacco rolled up with a bunch of Asian spices just off the ship from Portuguese and Dutch traders back from Malaysia and Indonesia. Italians, Germans and Brits until Polo unleashed this dirty frontiersman like woody monster on the buying public. Do you like warm spice, earthy tobacco, muddy roots, green and damp decaying woods in the late evening just a few degrees above freezing?
Look if God had his own perfume house, then this would be the garden of Eden scent. This scent is soo good and takes me back. Every time I spray it, I think of my friend, and playing with our Star Wars figures back in the day, which is nice.
The Polo brand sold in South Africa is not affiliated with the Ralph Lauren brand. An independent South African company trademarked the Polo name and logo in South Africa. Not sure about the performance, though — seems to morph into a skin scent as fast as the two aforementioned classics nowadays. I started wearing this amazing scent in college in the early 80’s. It was my only fragrance for 30 years. I have gone through so many bottles, I have lost count. The Warner bottles were the best fragrance ever made.
Legend has it that my wife was taken in by me as this is what I wore when I first met her. 20 years later she still swears that she remembers me with this perfume. It’s still her favourite, though I now own a lot of perfumes her eyes light up whenever i wear this one.
I wouldn’t recommend for every day use. No brand captures all-American flair quite like Polo Ralph Lauren.
