Everyone needs a few anchor-points back to their young and carefree days, and funnily enough, Polo Green has become one of mine from a memory I will always look back on with a smile. Back in the day this stuff was a whole forest crushed and compressed into liquid form and then crammed into a bottle! Also woods and patchouli along with moss, and a hint of leather. I like this scent the most when initially applied as I can smell the pine and fir. I’m just not that great of a fan of the scent – especially in drydown – the tobacco and leather kind of ruin it for me; I would prefer a more natural forest scent.
Basically, what hits you first is the mix of cut grass and other plants, then the unmistakable piquant smell of the black pepper. 90% of what I’ve sampled before have been women’s fragrances, which tend to skimp on the black pepper. While I think that it would smell quite masculine and attractive on a man, I’m not sure that a woman wouldn’t be able to wear it in the right circumstances.
It smells exactly what I remember back in the day, but the silage is only several hours if that, not quite as long as the the EDT. What I really would like to know is in what respects does the “Modern Reserve” differ to the “After Shave” splash on, and the “EDT”? Fragrances like this are a symbol of maturity and a solid strong personality; just made for men that are not looking for compliments but to wear the fragrance they only appreciate and love. This is a milestone in men’s perfumery. Probably the most classic and the most masculine of all men’s fragrances.
Fresh, clean, spicy, classy and luxurious. It seems like there will be no performance issues with my item. I never used the vintage formula but I am more than impressed with the June 2018 product. I was able to smell it on my arm still 8 hours later which is more than satisfactory.
Nobody should be without this one in their arsenal, as it simply has first rate longevity and character. One of the five most important colognes of the 20th century. Despite being overused and over-worn, still maintains its dignity. You think you could handle the life of a German barbarian in the late fourth and early fifth centuries? Could you really swing a battle axe with one hand? Could you really defend your family from onslaught after endless onslaught of pending chaos and death?
Mainly it seems very green, fresh, and spicy. Vintage Cosmair Polo is by far the king of all fragrances to me alone I suppose. I purchased my first bottle in 1982 and I couldn’t get ralph lauren t shirt enough of it. Mind blowing good, everyone wore it and the ladies liked it too. It was the only fragrance I wore until 1994 when my girlfriend bought me Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme.
