I suppose Polo is a true classic as it doesn’t smell dated or out of place to me compared to others that were released around this time. It’s a bold, very masculine scent. It’s in the same vein as Quorum but comes off more classy and refined to me.
Performance wise it is a beast for me. I find that applying some Vaseline on the area and then spraying helps longevity as well (good for your skin, too!). I will, however, note that this isn’t a safe blind buy. It is a scent that will fit the person and ralph lauren t shirt by that I mean it has an aura people are either extremely fond of, or shy away from. I say this because I wear this daily and a friend wanted it after smelling it on me. Once he purchased his own and started to use it, he just didn’t like it as much.
Definitely one to try and wear first. Still a great and unique smell even today. Of course I loved this back when I was in college.
Life is too short not to smell this great. However, I’m youngish so my experience has been positive since most of my peers don’t remember or weren’t around for the 70s or 80s and haven’t smelled this. If anything this cologne gets the most positive reaction from younger women out of all my colognes. Not exactly “sexy” positive, but “unique” positive, in a good way. Classic but in a working class way. My father used to wear this a lot to work.

It’s not sweet at all, which makes it stand out from a lot of modern colognes & what draws comments. It has impressive silliage and longevity. My skin absorbs most colognes pretty quickly but this one will last me 8+ hours. All you need is the ’78 Firebird and to unbutton your shirt revealing a hairy chest to complete the picture. I will most likely give an update in the future, maybe on 6 months when I’ve got a more solid opinion, but I have a feeling I’m only going to like this fragrance more.
