Polo By Ralph Lauren

To me it’s a special occasional one. You wear it if you want to celebrate something. To me, it smelled like nothing else. However, as I recall there was a sweet aspect to it back in the day. I have no idea what notes I smelled. I thought this might be one of those frags that I would take some time to enjoy, but I actually love this one on my initial testing.

This was the first time that a designer has introduced two fragrances – one for men and one for women – simultaneously. The company entered the European market, and went international, in 1981 with the opening of the first freestanding store for an American designer on New Bond Street in the West End of London, England. In 1971, Ralph Lauren Corporation launched a line of tailored shirts for women, which introduced the Polo player emblem to the world for the first time, appearing on the shirt’s cuff. In 1971 Lauren also opened a store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California; this was the first freestanding store for an American designer. Since its introduction in 1972, Ralph Lauren’s polo shirt has become a lasting icon of American culture and lifestyle.

I don’t know of any fragrance that actually smell close to it though. Nothing to add but this is the epitome of masculine men’s fragrance. I never wore this on a regular basis in the past but I believe the recently purchased bottle I have, though true to what I remember, has the overall heft and base notes dialed back. It still lasts well and seems more versatile now to me. Redolent of pine trees and stale cigarette butts.

One year passed and the result was “Polo for Men,” also known as “Polo Green.” But the drydown is immaculate and slightly tobacco without it being smoky. This is such an intoxicating scent that it becomes you. Once you grow Polo Ralph Lauren t shirt up with this, your standards are so much higher in what you expect a good edt to be. This is something millenials just don’t understand. Look if God had his own perfume house, then this would be the garden of Eden scent.

I wouldn’t recommend for every day use. Starting more than 40 years ago with a tie collection, Ralph Lauren never envisioned boundaries. Today’s Polo Ralph Lauren Big and Tall Clothing and Accessories Collection is absolute proof of how ralph lauren t shirt his incomparable designs evolved into beloved classics. From iconic Polo knit shirts and sport shirts to timeless sport coats, pants and jeans, along with belts, socks, shoes and more, discover a complete Polo Ralph Lauren wardrobe.

In 1977 Ralph Lauren Corporation introduced a signature cotton mesh polo shirt in various colours, featuring the polo player logo on the chest. It’s a masterpiece, I love this scent. First time I wore this fragrance about 30 years ago. It opens with green strong notes after 3 hours, it changes like leather and dry tobacco. Polo green is one of the best fragrance in my collection. Still smells great but unfortunately for me my stepfather still wears this and I have a hard time wearing this and feeling like it’s my own.

I’m reminded of how my clothes smelled when I was a smoker. It’s also a very nostalgic smell and, yes, I would also dub it a “dad smell”, if there was such a thing. Kind of interesting accord, but definitely not universally appealing. Women love this one and it is the epitome of masculinity. Several women I’ve been with or past girlfriends express that they love the smell and tend to borrow/keep my clothes that have the scent lingering.
