2021 Giant Talon 2

The main goal of this website is to provide step-by-step cycling related guides, reviews, and how-to’s for different bike types. Talon 1 is the best of the three, with a more convenient 1×10 drivetrain, better SRAM components, wide tires, and a lighter and plusher fork. If you have enough money to spare, you can’t go wrong with it. Select local Retailers offer Home Delivery service on new bicycle purchases.

The quality I’ve experienced for the price point ($570)is spot on. No issues and it took all the abuse a newbie who has only finished 4 rides without a crash of some sort. I would defiantly recommend this giant KIDS BIKES bike to anyone starting out in the sport. It’s given me the bug and I’m sure it will last me many years. I would definitely recommend this bike as a beginner to intermediate choice with a fork upgrade.

The stem’s a tad too long for our liking – but that’s easily fixed. That’s not unusual at this price point, but the Talon’s frame is so eager to be thrashed it’s just crying out for a fork that’s capable of being pushed hard too. If you’re used to a more forgiving ride – from bigger diameter tyres, rear suspension or a frame that’s a little more compliant – the Talon’s constant chatter will come as a shock. The good news is that thin tube walls help take the edge off the bigger hits, keeping things on the right side of harsh. You’ll never be in any doubt what’s going on down below, but neither are you likely to lose any fillings. Bikexchange is a free resource site for buying bicycles & cycling gear online.

Fox float 32 does an excellent job soaking up the terrain. This bike climbs like a mountain goat but gets a little squirrelly coming down fast. Likely will replace the bar, stem, and seat post with carbon in time.

This is a great value, and my bike isn’t holding me back from anything. I ride a lot of intermediate trails in Georgia, lots of rocks and roots, and this bike hasn’t let me down. Before this bike my only experience with mountain bikes were worn down yard sale finds and a crap mongoose I once bought so take my words with a grain of salt. I like the frame and just plan on upgrading parts as they break. The Talon 2 comes with a Giant’s exclusive ALUXX grade Aluminium frame. The Hardtail frame has a slanting top tube, which provided an aggressive position yet supreme control on trails.

Don’t need the 3×9 setup as I rarely get out of the 2nd chain ring. I recommend this for anyone who doesn’t have thousands to drop on a bike and is either a beginner or getting back into mtb. Shitty fork, Shitty, transmission, Shitty wheels, the bike can’t handle any format of technical trail giant ROAD BIKES without something breaking. The Maxxis branded Ardent Race MTB tires impressed us during the test ride. The 27.5”x 2.20” tires were heavily treaded with bulky buttons and covered the edges as well. These tires were fast rolling on flatter surfaces and could handle rough patches with ease.

As seen of giants website the talon 2 has 2×9 rear shifter. A review of ANY bike is flawed without mention of weight. A comparison over Talon would have been useful to find out how much weight saving would be achieved by spending more money. This review provides no more information than Giant’s own web site. In fact given a previous comment, it suggests inaccuracies.
