The GA110JOP-1A4 model timepiece, which is based on the digital-analog GA-110 series of watches, depicts One Piece protagonist Luffy. The watch will go on sale at select G-Shock retailers on July 22, and orders are limited to one per household. At 3 o’clock, there’s a “Wanted” motif and at 9 o’clock is a motif of Luffy’s signature straw hat.
The inset dial in the 9 o’clock position displays a four-star ball motif. This ball is one of the seven dragon balls, and is the one most closely associated with Son Goku. The Dragon Ball Z logo can be found on the case back and on the special package.
Can the Casio G-Shock GSW-H1000 cause an upset in the smartwatch market? For me, living in Norway where most of my mates are very outdoorsy (you try telling them you don’t like skiing), I’m already seeing a scary decline in mechanical watches. Yes they are still garish, and even more so now with the color explosions, but I was impressed with how balls-out Casio went with integrating frames of the artwork into the resin as well as the detailing on the dials.
