g shock ga 2100 870

Review

Let’s start with the shape, the GA2100-1a1 appeared on the gram and elsewhere online, and the case shape and dial just grabbed my eyes. It distinctively looks like an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Blacked out with darkened lumes, inverted LCD, and that octagon bezel, it just looked stunningly beautiful.

I’ve not seen any additional straps to buy yet but hey, new stuff! The strap itself feels a little thinner and more rigid than my other resin G-SHOCK and other Casios in general but this may be because it’s new and I’ve not broken it in yet. On the left there is a retrograde style day of the week arc, followed by a two hand central analogue time display. The hands are black with dark grey lumed inners which really do beam a lot of light well after dark, something that truly surprised me. The first one among the thinnest series with a blackish-grey combo is the G-Shock GA A. With a black bezel and band against grey markers this model looks as classy as it should. Created with perfection and uncountable features, the toughness of this model is visible through its construction.

A downside is that the hour markers do not have lume on them, but still, the color of them matches the luminescence rather well. What separates this watch from the all-black version is the A A has white hands and light gray indices, compared to the all-black GA A1 where every single component is black. The benefit of this is that it is more legible and thus also practical for everyday wear.

That in itself is a neat touch, and it’s these less traditional features that lend this piece fizz. It isn’t a cheap Royal Oak wannabe, it’s unmistakably a G-Shock – and it works as a watch on its own terms. If you were at school in the 1990s, you’ll remember G-Shock-wearing classmates slamming their watches on the ground to prove their indestructibility. We have been wearing the CasiOak this past fortnight and it has that same hard-as-nails quality. The hands have luminescence applied to them to help with legibility in the dark, and this is a good thing since it also means you save battery as you won’t have to turn on the light every time you just want to read the time.

The final of three series is the GA2100HC (aka the “Casio Oak”), which is available in two versions. The GA2100HC-2A, has a clear white bezel, a blue translucent band, and a blue and white dial, and the GA2100HC-4A has an olive green bezel, orange translucent band, with orange accents on the dial. This slim case design also has a Carbon Core Guard structure for enhanced strength and shock resistance. The GA900 comes in two versions with matte resin cases and bezels.

The grey strap is made of silicone – the material which is characterised by lightness and high level of damage resistance. The grey dial features a mineral crystal, which is very resistant to impacts and scratches that are caused during daily use. The watch with a water resistance of 200 meters means it can be worn while swimming or freediving at greater depths. Casio G-SHOCK GA A1ER is an authentic watch that you can purchase in our authorised store. The model is packed in a branded box and comes with a manufacturer’s warranty.

Every watch has a relationship between the dial and the case. The GA-2100 is interesting because the dial and case seem to all be part of the same object, as opposed to being distinct elements that make up a complete timepiece. Here is where the Royal Oak comparison actually makes the most sense – that’s a watch whose style is built on a harmony between the angular case and its integrated bracelet.

modification kit of gold-toned brushed steel butterfly bracelet and case , including that enigmatic octagon bezel. Full-on bling irony that takes all of five minutes to baby g shock assemble and sure turns out to be a conversation piece. It’s remarkable fun for about $200 AUD a kit and great if you don’t feel like taking yourself too seriously.

At 2 o’clock, it has the ”light”, at 4 o’clock ”start”, at 8 o’clock ”Mode”, and at 10 o’clock ”Adjust”. That way, you’ll know immediately which button does what. Analog hands Easy to Read, digital windows are small but light button works and is bright. Zach is a native of New Hampshire, and he has been interested in watches since the age of 13, when he walked into Macy’s and bought a gaudy, quartz, two-tone Citizen chronograph with his hard earned Bar Mitzvah money. It was lost in a move years ago, but he continues to hunt for a similar piece on eBay. Zach loves a wide variety of watches, but leans toward classic designs and proportions that have stood the test of time.

The blackout GA A1, one of three debut models from 2019, is still widely sold out and unavailable. The new GA-2110SU-3A (GA2110SU-3A in the U.S.) has been selling out quickly at some American retailers. Based on my own experience and the reactions of others, g shock protection the reasons are very simple. Can’t remember another model that has variants with hardware differences like that. Move the day of week arc to the 6 position and the LCD up to the 12 and make it all on the one line so the hand don’t obscure vision.
