In April 2020, Nvidia announced 100 new laptops licensed to include either GeForce GTX and RTX models. A 20 percent premium over the reference card is significant almost to the point of daring on Nvidia’s part. That does skew things slightly more in favor of the newer cards, by about five percent.
After all, it should still have the power to deliver strong gaming performance for a good few years yet. While the monstrously powerful GeForce RTX 3090 is the top graphics card in the range, its $1,499 price is very steep. And the more affordable GeForce RTX 3070 offers a lot of performance for $499, but some might want a little more power. Most of the extra money you’re forking over for the Founders Edition goes into its overclocking-ready power-delivery hardware and heavy-duty cooling system. I’ll be watching with great interest how partner-board companies outfit their gtx 1090 models to compete.

The RTX 2080 Ti supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.0 and Ansel, and is compatible with G-Sync and NVLink. The graphics card has two NVLink connectors along its top edge for SLI support, but only one is needed to support SLI. The RTX 2080 Ti, once a high-end GPU, could become a strong mid-tier graphics card.

Nvidia’s next generation of graphics cards is finally here, and it comes with big promises. The RTX 2080 is supposed to be up to 75 percent faster than the GTX 1080 in certain games, and it’s designed to finally deliver the ultimate goal of 4K gaming at 60 fps.
