While we rotated the plate, we recorded the maximum reading on the dial indicator. We validated each maximum reading by running the test for a second time and noting that the readings were consistent. TBB also noted that as we performed these tests on all eight saws, the maximum readings occurred at different parts of the plate along its dewalt tools rotation. Because the max readings were in different and discrete parts of the calibration plate, TBB had a very high level of confidence in the flatness of the calibration plate, itself. We calibrated the iGauging dial indicator to a zero reading at the operator’s end of the rip fence so that we started out with a reading of zero.
There’s also the question of whether the additional price will make sense to someone who’s choosing between this and a compact job site table saw. That’s where we’ll put our testing focus when we get this in for review. The shark fin-style riving knife behind the blade keeps cut pieces from dewalt Hand tools binding and causing kickback. The included push stick is useful when using thinner workpieces that don’t allow your hand to be at least 4 inches from the blade. The power button’s flip cover ensures that you only turn the blade on when you mean to, which is a welcome layer of safety.
Doesn’t seem to get much publicity (there’s not a single youtube review on it), so I thought I’d give it a shout out. I think that it’s the best portable table saw for the money, and that you’d be hard pressed to find anything better at under $300. I have donated a couple of Dewalt table saws over the years, and never heard anything negative about them. I still have a Dewalt rolling table saw I use often, and it too has been great. This particular DW745 went to a local electrician who is doing some home remodeling.

Essentially, rip capacity is the amount of space between the edge of the saw blade and the edge of the fence.

Converting the guard from a splitter to a riving knife means lowering the splitter until it’s just below the top of the saw blade teeth. If you are just starting to build up your tool collection, I would totally recommend this saw.
