Huawei Announces Matebook D 14 & D 15 With Ryzen 5000 Cpus

Up until 2017, the Intel Core i7 was Intel’s fastest line of processors until the Intel Core i9 was released. At the time of writing, the Intel i7 range features processors that contain up to 8 cores, with a default clock speed of around 3.6GHz on average. This makes the Intel i7 range a favorite for gamers, PC builders, and content creators. With the AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs, AMD has finally dethroned Intel when it comes to raw gaming performance.

A massive 32MB of L3 cache is joined by high clock speeds and great overclock support, particularly in the more pricy 3800X. 16 MBGPU—-TDP65 W65 W65 W95 WPrice$126$138$117$146The new 3400G and 3600X processors are some pretty hot chips. You’ve got the latest Vega 11 in the former, while the latter comes with a whopping 32MB of L3 cache, making it ideal for intense workloads.

The 12nm I/O chip is produced by ex-AMD fab GlobalFoundries and houses a medley of non-core silicon including the Unified Memory Controller and I/O Hub Controller. With memory now offloaded from a monolithic die, and independently adjusted to the fabric clock, AMD is able to offer speeds upwards of 5,000MHz. Cache sizes are by no means a ‘make-or-break’ feature, but it does help to indicate how well the chip will be at multitasking efficiently.

After I upgraded to this processor the performance in those games increased substantially. If you are on the fence about getting this processor to replace an older Intel I5 processor I would highly recommend you do so if you have the funds. Higbly do not recommend to pair this with any RTX GPU as the 3600 will bottleneck them noticeably. For instance, an RTX 2060 super will be utilized at 90% most of the time if paired with the 3600. For video editing it performs almost the same as the 8700k and the 9700k.

For the past several years, AMD has been an also-ran in the mobile-processor race. Though the company’s APUs (AMD’s name for CPUs) have powered many laptops, the chips have been limited to budget-minded, low-performance systems. However, with its new Ryzen Mobile chips, the company is finally taking the performance fight to Intel. AMD’s quad-core Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors are designed to beat Intel’s 8th Gen Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs while coming in at around the same price or possibly less. Zen 3 marks one of the biggest architecture redesigns we’ve seen in a single generation.

Intel’s chip scored a little higher on a couple of tests that didn’t require much graphics might, but the overall takeaway is that AMD’s mobile processors are now as good if not better than Intel’s. To see which processors reign supreme, we got ahold of two nearly identical HP Envy x360 2-in-1s — one with Ryzen 5 and one with Intel Core i5 — and put them through our own set of tests. Overall, the Ryzen Mobile-powered laptop impressed us by getting much-higher graphics gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb scores than its competitor. You see in AMD Zen 2 processors, each Compute Die had two Core Complexes , which each had 4 cores and 16MB of L3 cache. This means in single-core workloads, the core would only have direct access to 16MB of cache, and would have to reach outside of the CCX if more was needed. With Zen 3, however, each CCX now has 8 cores and 32MB of L3 cache, so the amount of cache that each individual core has direct access to has doubled.

It was mostly trying to run factory overclock memory or CPU didn’t like certain DDR3 DIMMs. Incidentally, thank you for waiting on the reviews to let the platforms receive some updates so that you had a better opportunity to test with faster RAM and avoid some of the hiccups we saw on launch day. As I understand turbo boost is disabled when overclocking Ryzens which means the performance on lightly-threaded loads would actually be worse. I’m not sure if the overclock affected the top turbo boost speed, so lightly threaded loads that were going up to 4.1GHz anyway might not be substantially affected.

When compared against the Intel Core i5-9600K, it’s head-to-head with Intel coming out on top, but only just. AMD’s third-gen Ryzen processors like the Ryzen X also support faster RAM, allowing you to throw in 3200MHz modules with room for overclocking of both the CPU and memory. Even with the launch of Ryzen, AMD still lagged slightly behind team blue for single-core performance and gaming. But AMD has closed this gap, almost eliminating differences between the two camps with third-gen Ryzen. If you’re on the hunt for the best mid-range processor you can buy right now on a tighter budget, the Ryzen 3600X is just what you’re looking for.

This cuts latency down dramatically and boosts single-core performance higher than we’ve ever seen. Releasing on November 5, 2020, the AMD Ryzen 5000 series of processors have been gracing us with its presence for some time now. The extra processor cores offered by Ryzen compared to Intel’s Kaby and Coffee Lake CPUs means that certain tasks will run MUCH faster.
