Dewalt 20v Max Xr Oscillating Multi
The DeWalt uses a tool-free, accessory clamp system, with a big spring-loaded lever and those gripping teeth I mentioned earlier. The tapered teeth slip into holes in the blade and grip tight. This is one of those features I didn’t know I missed when using my original tool. I had simply dealt with hunting around for the special Allen wrench to make changes and periodic re-tightening.
To see our selection of blades compatible with this adapter see our ‘Bosch’ tab on the website selection bar. Given DEWALT’s recent push for dust collection I’m surprised the sanding attachment doesn’t have an adapter for the hepa vac. The only small issue I have with the DWE315 is the set screw for the Tool Guide. It has a tendency to work itself loose when the tool is on and vibrating. I’d like to see some sort of clamp that would lock the guide into position better under substantial vibration. This is a pretty small gripe considering how important and useful I think the guide is.

In one instance, the Dremel, we tested a previous version but haven’t gotten the new one in hand yet, so we’ll update that review with impressions once we do. The built-in LED light is a bonus and brighter than most cordless units. This makes working in cramped, dark spaces or in and around inner doorways easier. The unit comes with adapters that can work with other brands of oscillating tools. The large on and off switch is easy to manipulate when wearing bulky gloves, and the lock-on button ensures that the tool doesn’t inadvertently switch off in the middle of a job.
As we started making our initial cuts, two things because clear. For starters, the tool seemed to be genuinely faster than the last brushless model and clearly a big upgrade from the initial brushed one. That was a little bit of a surprise considering the DeWalt DCS356 has the same 20,000 OPM speed and 3.2° arc as the 355. This cordless DEWALT multi-tool has 20 volts, which allows it to quickly slice through sheetrock, light woods, and metal. I get tired of rooting around in the bottom of tool bags for those items. The benefit of waiting a long time to introduce a new tool to your lineup is you get to see all the good and bad from your competition and use it to design your own. The DEWALT DWE315K clearly focuses on two traits and that’s versatility and power. The powerful 3 amp motor competes for the most powerful in this segment against the Bosch MX30E and slightly more powerful than the current FEIN models on the market. With the Tool Guide System it clearly offers some nice versatility that’s not being offered on many other Brands or models on the market today.
You must have the right blade for the material and those can be found on the web. One caveat about some blades is that they are not quick fit. An adapter comes with the multi-tool so you can use any blade but it is hex.

The – connections are required to be connected fully or the working LED light will just flash once, but the tool wont do a thing. After looking on a few sites, I have found that dry joints hidden under heat shrink sleeving and DeWalt intelligent battery’s are the reason for the tools not working. , I was able to roll along, pressing the guide against the wall as I went, for added stability.
It also describes information tools available at eReplacementParts.com. Simply squeeze the spring loaded lever to open the blade socket. It’s a tight lever that ensures your blade won’t go anywhere once nestled into the notches. That kit was $99 on BF last year at Lowe’s, I believe it was $99 bare tool at HD for BF…maybe the HD kit came with a 1.3 Ah battery. I know Lowe’s had the better deal b/c that’s where I bought mine.
