Throughout the range of sizes, reach and stack are on the short and high side of the spectrum. Compared to the Marlin 7, which skews toward the aggressive side with a longer and lower fit, the Talon 29 2 gives riders a more upright riding position. If this is a little more bike giant ROAD BIKES than you need, the Talon 29 3 has the same aluminum frame hung with cheaper components to bring the price down to $550. If you prefer 27.5-inch wheels, the Talon 2 and the Talon 3 have identical builds and prices to the Talon 29 2 and Talon 29 3, but with 27.5-inch wheels.
2 – If that isnt sufficient, I can get a rear groupset with a wider range cassette by either Eagle or Microshift that will fit my current hub. As I approach $200 am I getting close to other options that make more sense? Can I add a swap out a really low gear on an existing cassette? Not sure if this is even possible, but trying to make this work with what I have. Microshift doesn’t show all of the Advent 8spd bits on their website, either. It’s worth noting that the 9spd derailleurs, anyway, come in 1x and 2x flavors.

On the trail it was hard to notice a difference in stopping power between these and the Shimano brakes found on the Trek Marlin 7, a very similar but slightly more expensive bike.
