Geforce® Gtx 1660 Super Gaming Oc 6g Key Features

First up is the $229 gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb , which sits right between the vanilla 1660 and the Ti version, both in performance and price. In a few weeks the GTX 1650 Super will also release, though, pricing has yet to be announced but it will likely be around $179 or so. The EVGA GTX 1660 Super SC we have for review sports a 1,530 MHz base clock and 1,750 MHz memory clock. EVGA lists the boost clock at 1,830 MHz, which is 45 Mhz above the reference clock speed of 1,785 MHz. The bumped-up specifications on the 1660 Super yield a small TDP increase from 120W to 125W. Most card partners recommend this card be partnered with a 500W or greater power supply.

The Turing GPU architecture is a genuine advancement over the last-gen Pascal design, offering gaming improvements well beyond the ray tracing noise. We’ve been big fans of the Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti since it first arrived delivering the highest gaming performance we’ve seen in a GPU that costs less than $300. So long as we were talking MSRP versions anyways… there have been some factory overclocked cards topping the $300 mark and they’re harder to recommend. Compared to the similarly priced AMD RX 590 there’s no competition here at all, as the 1660 Super is faster across the board by a decent margin, so AMD will need a price cut to remain competitive at this price point. It also smokes the GTX 1060, making it a very decent upgrade to that GPU, as it runs between 20 and 30 percent faster in most games. The addition of a Walmart Protection Plan adds extra protection from the date of purchase.

Here are the gaming performance results for the EVGA GTX 1660 Super SC Ultra. Most of the other cards are reference clocked models, though the RTX 2070, 2080, and 2080 Ti are Founders Edition cards that also have a 90MHz factory overclock. AMD’s RX 590, 580, and 570 cards are likewise factory overclocked models, but I don’t normally consider differences of less than 5 percent to be particularly meaningful when comparing performance. There’s a reason for these new GTX Super cards, of course, and that reason is AMD. Specifically, AMD recently launched the OEM version of the Radeon RX 5500, and consumer models are expected to arrive shortly.

If it feels like NVIDIA has launched a lot of GeForce video cards over the past year, that’s because they have. In the 13 months going back to the initial launch of the Turing architecture and the GeForce RTX 20 series of cards, gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb NVIDIA has now launched 12 different GeForce SKUs. And even if we toss out the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070, which were formally discontinued but still sit on some store shelves, NVIDIA’s current product stack is still 10 cards deep.

That ‘slash’ between the logos and branding on the top of the card lights up and can be customized via Asus’ included software. The heatsink underneath those fans is outfitted with a pair of copper heat-pipes, sandwiched between a large array of aluminum thin-fins. Those heat-pipes are flattened in the base and make direct contact with the GPU as well; ASUS calls this feature ‘DirectCU II’. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB OC looks much like a handful of other GPUs from the company that feature the Windforce 3X cooler design, but with a customized PCB for the TU116.

Here’s a quick look at total system consumption and as you can see the 1660 Super sucks down a little more power than even the Ti model. Clearly that higher clocked GDDR6 memory is power hungry and here we see an increase on total system draw by 9% over the standard 1660. Solid performance gains can also be seen when testing with Sniper gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb Elite 4, the 1660 Super was 14% faster than the base model and just 4% slower than the Ti model, so another excellent result. First up we have Shadow of the Tomb Raider and here the new 1660 Super was 4% faster than the base model. Not exactly an exciting result but it was significantly faster than the RX 590, so there’s that.
