Ran 10 cycles of water through this machine before I began using it to get rid of the plastic taste. Using the scoop provided with the coffeemaker, the coffee was way too strong! Went back to using a spoon and it’s less strong than the scoop but still strong. Haven’t had a good cup of coffee since I started using this machine. I use my coffee maker every day—or several times a day.

We would often add coffee and water to the machine at night, and set the brew time for the next morning. It was so nice to wake up and have coffee already made. However, one thing we didn’t like about the Cuisinart was the design of the carafe. The thickness of the pot is probably key to keeping coffee hot, but the design has a few drawbacks. For starters, the water doesn’t pour out of the spout all that easily—you have to tip the pot really far forward, especially when you’re pouring out the liquid at the very bottom. The Cuisinart DCC-1100BK features a charcoal water filter like the other models on our list.
