The smallest oven we toasted was the Balmuda which fits only two slices of bread at a time with one rack position. The Breville Mini Smart Oven has the ability to hold at least two racks so you could, in theory, toast as many as eight slices of bread at once. Larger models like the Oster TSSTTVMNDG-SHP-2 and GE G9OAAASSPSS could fit a small whole chicken. Though I would probably recommend a big oven for something like that. I really liked the FlashXpress’ simple display and big buttons, and its easily-removable crumb tray. Most of the other best toaster ovens of this size are double the weight.

However, when you open the oven door, you’ll find the rack position numbers printed on the side of the oven. But you’ll still have to consult the user manual to know where the racks should be placed for each cooking function, which is a little inconvenient. This oven beeps with each push of a button and does so three times when it finishes cooking.
A little lacking in the Brussels and garlic arena, this air fryer won’t do you wrong if you’re not too worried about caramelizing vegetables. In terms of pure speed, the infrared Panasonic was the fastest, living up to its FlashXpress nickname. The Balmuda also black decker toasters toasted four slices in under three minutes, while the Breville Mini Smart oven did it in three. The slowest was the clunky Oster, which took well over six minutes to hit medium, followed by the GE, which took nearly five minutes and was still underdone.
Compared to the more common nichrome heating elements, they produce more heat and cool down faster. They are also more energy-efficient and easier to clean but don’t last as long in terms of durability. However, if grease splashes onto the heating elements while cooking, it’ll leave permanent stains. Despite its large size, the black decker air fryer Black+Decker only has air ventilation holes around the side where the convection fan is. The two buffers on the back to keep the oven from being too close to the walls are quite sturdy. The silver stainless steel Black+Decker CTO6335S Countertop Convection Toaster Oven is a good budget choice if you’re looking for a large unit.
