Ozark Trail 26 Quart Premium Grade Cooler, Jetski Mounted Using Attached GEN2 Slide-N-Lock LinQ Mount

Several weeks ago we finally purchased an Ozark Trail 52-Quart High-Performance Cooler from Walmart. I was so excited to get it home and run a test to see if it really holds ice longer than my Coleman 60 Quart Performance Wheeled Cooler. We purchased four bags of ice – two for each cooler – and got started. The Ozark Trail held ice one day longer than the Coleman and in general, the cooler felt cooler inside than the Coleman. Unfortunately, the deal breaker is that it intermittently leaked water from the drain spout.

These coolers aren’t air tight or completely leak proof though. Both of these coolers are very similar to each other in their ozark trail chair features with just a few minor differences. If you look at them side-by-side they look very similar to each other.

As they cost far less than premium brands, many outdoor enthusiasts are wondering if they really live up to their reputation. A. A personal-size Ozark Trail soft-sided cooler works well for taking lunch to work or school. Even the smallest hard-sided coolers are too large to make an effective lunch box.

A vapor lock can form that requires you to open the drain plug to open the lid. They aren’t as affordable, but in my opinion they are better coolers. They are more affordable than Yeti but basically look nearly identical and perform almost as well.

The top entry is zipper-sealed so there’s no risk of anything falling out. This cooler is perfect for weekend camping thanks to its excellent ice retention. The outside is made with Microban lining that will help protect against bacteria, odors, and stains. Plus, this cooler features a heavy-duty exterior to resist mildew, punctures, and UV rays. Outside of the premium models (with their thicker insulated shell), these coolers aren’t designed to keep ozark cooler ice for long periods. Rather, they are a good companion for a lunch outing or small picnic. Specifically, the smaller models will have ice life that starts at just a couple of hours and creeps up to around half a day. The more capable premium models should keep ice for up to a day and a half.

The only reason I see to pick one cooler over the other is that the Ozark Trail is roto-molded and thus tougher plus it has cup holders. Or the Lifetime cooler has the slip/slide feet and keeps ice slightly longer. Lifetime and Ozark are the two cheapest premium coolers on the market and for that reason I would recommend purchasing the cooler that is cheapest when you are looking to buy. How do Lifetime do this and still offer their cooler at such an affordable price? I think it has to do with the fact that Lifetime coolers are blow-molded (not roto-molded) which is a cheaper manufacturing process.

This is a plus, considering many brands actually charge you extra for the wire basket.

The tote, in real-life conditions, should hold ice for around 1 ½ days while the backpack should last a full day. And while we are on the subject of the premium soft-sided coolers, there are a few additional features specific to them. They include built-in bottle openers, daisy chain attachment points, compression strap, thicker insulation, and a wash-friendly 600D outer coating. Ozark Trail’s hard-sided coolers all feature one-piece construction without any seams.

We will break down the size selections available to you in the next section. Moreover, this Yeti cooler comes with a couple of extra features that make it even more useful and convenient. One of these features I particularly liked is the presence of LipGrip handles – carrying this thing around is as easy as it gets.
