Nvidia Reveals Faster Geforce Gtx 1660 Super, Gtx 1650 Super Gpus Boosted By Gddr6 Memory

Here are the gaming performance results for the EVGA gtx 1080 8gb SC Ultra. Most of the other cards are reference clocked models, though the RTX 2070, 2080, and 2080 Ti are Founders Edition cards that also have a 90MHz factory overclock. AMD’s RX 590, 580, and 570 cards are likewise factory overclocked models, but I don’t normally consider differences of less than 5 percent to be particularly meaningful when comparing performance. There’s a reason for these new GTX Super cards, of course, and that reason is AMD. Specifically, AMD recently launched the OEM version of the Radeon RX 5500, and consumer models are expected to arrive shortly.

This Subreddit is community run and does not represent NVIDIA in any capacity unless specified. I’m running Kingdom Come all maxed out at 1080p between 45-60+ frames. The 1660 is getting an undisclosed price cut according to PC World. Also, it would be interesting to see what pricing NVIDIA has in mind for the gtx 1090. The GeForce GTX 1660 currently costs $229 US while the Ti variant costs $249 US.

Both the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and 1660 use Nvidia’s TU166 Turing GPU, with the caveat that it doesn’t support RTX features such as DLSS and ray tracing like the RTX 2060. There is also the issue that pricing for all versions of the GTX 1060 is obviously lower than at launch now and I’ve added some of the cheaper examples to the above table. The GTX GB can be had for just $184/£164 and the 6GB card for $209/£190, the latter being practically the same as the GTX 1660. Nvidia swapped out the slower GDDR5 memory of the original GTX 1660 for cutting-edge GDDR6 VRAM in the new GTX 1660 Super, and oh, what a difference it makes. In our testing across a variety of games, the upgraded memory pushes the new card well beyond the original GTX 1660’s performance and closer to the frame rates pumped out by the $280 GTX 1660 Ti.

It was discontinued in April 2017, and Time Spy benchmark is now recommended to be used instead. Comparison of graphics card architecture, market segment, value for money and other general parameters. Finishing up the gaming benchmarks we have Middle-earth Shadow of War and here the 1660 Super was 19% faster than the base model and just 3% slower than the Ti version, so again another excellent result. The fact the Super can match the higher-spec silicon of the Ti with just a slight memory speed bump does show that those 128 CUDA cores don’t really amount to much when it comes to gaming performance. If you don’t have sufficient memory that will hold things up as system resources will need to be pulled from elsewhere to supplement your graphics card. And if the memory is slow you’re going to have to wait longer for it all to be pulled together and a frame to be displayed on your screen.

Stepping up to 2,560 x 1,440 and there’s very little difference between the RX 590 and GTX 1660, with just a small bump in the minimum frame rate for the Nvidia card. A minimum frame rate of 37fps is a great result here given this is a mid-range resolution at some fairly high settings in this game, although I’d be tempted to opt for the GTX 1660 Ti for a little more headroom. Once again, there’s a huge near 30% step up from the GTX GB, meaning that you’d probably consider the new card a worthwhile upgrade. The Turing architecture was introduced almost a year ago, and today the lineup has grown significantly larger than it was at launch. The GTX 1660 Super is undoubtedly a worthy successor to the original GTX 1660, which was a popular graphics card choice in many budget gaming setups. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER would be the latest addition to the Turing based GeForce 16 family.

The latest GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti GPUs, which don’t have RT but do have integer cores, will run ray-traced games moderately better than last-gen 10-series GPUs. NVIDIA also announced that Unity and Unreal Engine now support ray-tracing, allowing developers to implement the tech into their games. The RTX 2070 Super replaces the RTX 2070 in gigabyte gtx 1060 3gb Nvidia’s line-up of ray-tracing high performance GPUs, yielding around a 10% performance improvement at the same $500 USD price point. The 2070 Super has been upgraded to use the same GPU die as in the RTX 2080, and now has 2560 CUDA cores, up from 2304 in the 2070. 1660 ti feels overpriced now without an included game to justify it.
