Are Ozark Trail Tents Waterproof?

The tent itself is nice and roomy, and boasts a 6-foot peak height to make changing clothes a drama-free endeavor. This screened-in shelter also gets high points for its price, which is always a selling point with an Ozark Trail tent, but this one represents a particularly good value considering all its features. Layout wise is virtually identical to the Core Instant Cabin we evaluated for our 10 person tent roundup, but delivers those same massive interior dimensions for about $100 less. And if you’re camping with a smaller group, you can fit up to two queen sized air mattresses inside for a more luxurious sleeping experience. Yes, Core is an excellent tent brand, especially for family camping tents.

Weighing in at a hearty 15 lbs, chances are you won’t be hiking anywhere with the Ozark Trail 7 Person Teepee. Anywhere with pull-up vehicle access and nearby amenities would be perfect for this style of shelter. The first step is to find a nice flat piece of ground and get all six of the corners staked out.

The CORE is the lightest tent among the 4, making it easier to carry around to the campground. For each of these 6 factors, we’ll compare the different tents to find out which one is the best. The tent with the highest ozark tent combined score will win the title of “Best Tent” in its category. It can be described as an semi-instant system because the roof/fly is with a pre-attached frame, and the remaining elements are then attached to it separately. A lover of the outdoors, and especially the mountains, Spencer has always enjoyed pushing people to step outside their comfort zones. His mission is to help others get out of their homes, push their limits, and to have fun staying active in nature.

The Ozark Trail Yurt gets high marks for its overall interior space with 169 square feet of floor room and ceilings over 7 feet tall at their peak. That’s plenty of room for two queen mattresses with room left over for some chairs, a cooler, and a camp table. Speaking of camp tables Ozark Trail actually includes a small table with this shelter, which mounts at the base of the main support pole to make the most of the tent’s interior space. It’s spacious enough for 3 queen-sized mattresses and features a divider that turns it into two rooms rather than just one open space.

This design maximizes floor space and keeps you comfortable when in bed, but still provides the durability and stability offered by dome-shaped tents. It’s sizeable enough for 4 large adults, though you could fit a fifth with a bit of squeezing (it’s ozark trail canopy only 10 feet wide). It can fit 1 queen bed and one single, or a lot of smaller bedrolls/bed pads side by side. Even if the weather is hot and the tent is full, it’ll stay nicely cool thanks to the built-in roof vent, ground vent, and mesh windows.

The three rooms with separate doors provide you and your family with easy access and plenty of space. The Ozark Trail ten-person tent feels very roomy, with six different windows and a completely open mesh top for you to get breeze and stargaze at night. Luckily, there is a rain fly that covers everything and even gives you a bit of an overhang on the main entrance, providing some protection from sunlight.

No leaks, no tears and only 1 pole malfunction that probably had to do with me setting it up quickly in the rain. Even then it was just a matter of stretching the pole back out more carefully. Maybe I got a fluke that is a bit better made than the rest but I’ll keep using this until it’s completely trashed. You want to make sure that the treatment you’re using is compatible with the materials your tent is made of, but that’s more important for the seams. Keep in mind that a DWR coating will likely decrease your tent’s breathability, but that’s not as important as keeping out the water.
