FCC filings show possible new Dyson robot vacuum

But from the outside, it’s a bit like comparing apples and oranges. This guide is designed to help break down the similarities and differences of bissell crosswave cordless Roomba vs. Dyson. The vacuum is fitted with a panoramic lens, which sits on top of a camera that captures 360-degree views at 30 frames a second.

On all three test beds, the test area is the same length (30.25 inches). We conduct three cleaning runs (at minimum) on each floor type. From there we can calculate the percentage of debris pickup for every cleaning run and the average amount of soil a machine manages to remove. Additionally we run anecdotal (visual) pet hair tests for each robot, on all three floor types. Third, even some more expensive—£300 and up—robot vacuum cleaners can struggle getting right up against walls and tables and other tight spots cleaned. It’s always worth having a look up against walls after your robot vacuum has completed its job as you may find its size, shape and the layout of the device has meant some pesky mess has been missed.

The main downside is that this vacuum is so loud in the Max mode that you can hardly have a conversation. When cleaning carpets, it captured 70-76% of large debris, so that was much better than it’s performance of cleaning large debris on hardwoods. Overall, the V6 collected 94% of debris on low pile carpet and 92% of debris on high pile carpet, averaging irobot vacuum cleaner out all debris types tested. The cleaning process of the Dyson V8 is  similar to that of the V10, and well basically all of the V-Series Dyson stick vacuums. It has a floor motorized cleaning head, debris travels up the stick, and deposits into the dust bin. The Roomba 960 is the step below the Roomba 980, but still within iRobot’s 900 Series.

It also has one flat side, so it has more in common with the
Neato Botvac than previous Dyson vacs – superficially, at least. Once the S7 gets oriented and does some drunk edge cleaning, it begins to clean in rows, leaving behind satisfying zig-zags that prove it covered the whole floor. Even from another room, I could hear when HyperForce suction was activated to take a carpet to task. In my opinion this robot will perform its best on bare floor surfaces. The carbon fiber filaments in the brush roll work best picking up static filled dust and medium sized debris like rice or crush oats.

We did have some connectivity issues where the Heurist dropped off the network, but overall, it was there when we needed it. Despite not being able to see in the dark, we were impressed by how well Dyson’s original robotic cleaner, the 360 Eye, cleaned. It picked up brilliantly, especially on carpets, and thankfully the 2.0 version continues, and improves upon, this tradition, with powerful cleaning that puts the competition to shame. There’s also Alexa and Google Assistant if barking orders at the help is more your thing. If it’s a basic clean you’re after, the lowest setting is relatively quiet while there’s three higher settings giving you room to ramp things up for bigger messes—but, then, it does get quite loud .
