Many electric razors offer both dry and wet shaving capabilities. After conducting our Series 9 Pro review, we found the razor cuts shaving time into a fraction of what other electric razors typically put out. There’s even Sonic Technology that lifts hair to deliver a closer shave in less time.
Trimming or shaving your pubic area is always a harrowing experience, but this specially designed shaver/trimmer combo makes it a little more palatable (and way less painful). The blades are closely spaced together to help prevent sensitive skin from getting caught leading to nicks and cuts and they stay sharp longer to help deliver a smooth, pull-free shave. It also comes with length guards, including a sensitive comb to help further protect your skin when you’re shaving close. For as close as this razor can shave (5-blades close!) you’d think that it could make sensitive skin angry, but somehow it doesn’t. The ultra-sharp blades trim hair as close as any razor/cream combo we’ve tried and the pivoting head ensures you don’t miss a spot – even around hard-to-reach areas like your jawline and neck. Other (more expensive) versions of this razor also feature things like Intelligent Shave Sensor that automatically adjusts to your hair thickness, but this version still delivers a great shave without as many bells and whistles.
CBS was a notable customer, using models PC-60, PC-70, PC-72, PCP-90, the LDH series, and later the LDK series. Later marketed using the BTS—Broadcast Television Systems Inc.—brand name in a joint venture with Bosch, the division was subsequently philips electric razor sold to Thomson’s Grass Valley, then to Belden. James has been using the Series 7 to shave a portion of his face (growing a pandemic beard after initial testing decreased his use somewhat) since first testing for this guide in 2020.
It also lets us test whether the shavers nick your skin or cause any irrritation, and how long the battery lasts. However, the crucial thing to be aware of is that the most recent Brauns have model codes beginning 93 and the most recent Philips ones begin S97 or S95 – plus the Prestige. There is nothing philips electric razor wrong with the older models you will find online, and sometimes they are at real bargain prices, but they’re not the very latest and bestest. Overall, there is very little to tell between this and its premium rivals, but a slightly shorter battery life and higher RRP moved it down the list.
Now, while this technology is really amazing, I am not sure it really leads to the shave being any better, but if you suffer very bad skin irritation as a result of heat, it could be worth a try. Overall performance is perfectly acceptable, although not on par with the more premium shavers. Thanks to a new blade design and more generously sized foil holes, the Series 9000 Prestige can tackle thick stubble – up to a week’s worth, even. Where other electrics force you to hack away over and over if you’ve missed a few days, you can pretty much just run this over once, and then look for only a few minor spots that might need a second go.
This stainless-steel electric razor is a great entry-level option for those who need something quick and convenient that still provides a close shave. With ComfortCut blades that are easy to open and wash, this razor is designed to last a long time. Each shaving head can move in eight directions, making this rotary razor perfect for those who want to easily shave difficult-to-reach areas more effectively. This model has adjustable speed settings and a SmartClean PLUS system that cleans, charges and primes the razor for the next shave. Overall, this electric razor offers a pleasant, contoured shaving experience. Lighter-weight than the previous model, this razor uses a stainless steel blade that offers a great shaving experience at a lower price point than newer models.
We’re also testing the Panasonic Arc6, a six-blade version of the quiet-but-bulky shaver we recommend as a Braun alternative, as well as additional rotary shavers. As with the more expensive Braun models, this Remington comes with a two-year warranty. Remington recommends annual replacement of the shaver’s cutting block and foil, which are sold as a combo pack for about $20. Ideally, you want to clean your electric razor after every use to keep the blazes sharp.
Right now, the bundle, which includes a charging stand and storage pouch, is 20 percent off. For the overall quality of shave at a non-crazy price, I’d personally recommend Braun’s updated flagship Series 9. It gets you smooth even if you haven’t shaved for 3 days and I prefer the feel of foil to rotary. Having tried all these models, it’s actually quite hard to differentiate between the most expensive, ‘flagship’ models.
The trimming comb that comes with these models will help create straight lines. They are sleek, easy to hold, and help efficiently shave the unwanted facial hair. Similar to Braun razors, Philips electric razors last around minutes at full charge. With many other features, like the SmartClean system and handy LED displays, Philips offers a lot in each product. For guys on the go, this travel electric shaver is perfect for keeping yourself well-groomed anywhere, anytime.
