With a steel-frame base and extra wide wheels and tires, this bike’s pretty easy to learn on and can handle multiple terrain types, such as sand and snow. Like the previous Mongoose fat bikes, the knobby supersized (26 inches by 4.25 inch wide) tires of this bike make it possible to ride on virtually any terrain. The bike’s 20-inch by 4.25 inch wide tires are appropriately grippy for superior traction and stability on dirt, grass, sand, or snowy terrain.
The 20-inch wheels version of the bike fits riders from ages 6 to 7, from 4 to 5 feet tall. The 16-inch is for kids ages 3 to 5, and the 20-inch is for kids ages 6 to 8. I kid though, because Mongoose really does give you the best deals on fat bikes by far.
Another reason to choose Mongoose is its dedication to customer service. The company offers a wide range of resources to help cyclists with any problems they may have with their bikes. For example, all of their bikes come equipped with front and rear lights, reflectors, and bells.
For starters, its beach cruiser frame gives it plenty of clearance to conquer any terrain. So much so that it smoothly takes on sand, snow, and every terrain between. Assembly is quick and easy, and in no time, the bike will be ready to hit the trails. A one of a kind creation from Mongoose bike is the Mongoose Argus toddler fat bike. To be honest, any of the 3 Mongoose bikes I list at the top here are winners and sometimes it’s more about what you can find in stock. Mongoose recommends this bike for riders up to 6 foot tall although many riders a few inches taller report no issues with the bike.
Wider rear hub spacing requires that the crankset be shifted outboard to maintain a reasonable chain angle for proper shifting, which increases the stance width of the cranks. Wider-stance cranks can cause knee or hip pain in some riders. mongoose fat tire bike If this is you, look for a fat bike with a narrower bottom bracket shell (less than 100 mm). They don’t require a lot of upkeep, and they’re built to last. Mongoose is a good brand of bike for both beginner and experienced cyclists.
Just wasn’t riding it that much and didn’t ever do the gear change. Its a little bit of a harsh ride but I think thats the fact that its a rigid bike and I’m not used to that. Still not an everyday trail ride bike for me but fun every mongoose bmx once in a while. Plus now I have an extra bike for my buddies without bikes to ride if we go out. Nothing to high end component wise but gets the job done for me. I feel like I ripped off sports authority at the price I got her.
Fat tire bikes are in fact easier to ride than other bike types. The wider tire has more of a contact patch with the ground and is naturally more stable. If you want to read more, I put together a post of the science behind why a fat tire bike naturally is more balanced than other bike types.
I love the bike, rode it all over Fairbanks and other placesl, through soft sand, snow, everything. Light weight giving it’s size with tons of room for upgrades with it’s sturdy frame, forks, good rims, disc brakes that work better in water than the old rubber on rim ones do. One thing to note about this is that fat tire bikes mongoose kids bikes by their very nature are very stable even when riding fairly slow. This means this is actually a really great trainer bike for kids as it is more stable than other kids bikes. This fat tire bike comes with the same 7 speed drivetrain with the SRAM shifters and Shimano derailleur that is common on all the best bikes.
