G-Shock International announces the release of a new addition to the G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. Based on the GA-110, the oversized GA-110JOP is a black watch emblazoned with illustrations of the main character, Monkey D. Luffy. Hot on the heels of a Dragonball baby g shock Z tribute watch, Casio has collaborated with another Japanese anime series to release a G-Shock for fans of the One Piece treasure-hunting pirate comic strip. Originally scheduled for July, the G-Shock x One Piece will only arrive in our market later this month though.

Gold accents can be found on the dial face where a four-star motif associated with Goku and the seven dragon balls, along with the symbol “Z” can be found on the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position, respectively.
The indicator of the inset dial in the 9 o’clock position features Luffy’s straw hat as a design motif, while the word, “WANTED” is found in the 3 o’clock position. Also, when the hour and minute hands point to the 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions respectively, they combine visually with the two diagonal lines on the dial to form a golden “X”. This represents the X-shaped scar on Luffy’s chest, and also expresses the ONE PIECE love of adventure and treasure hunting in the smallest of details. Based on the GA-110, popular worldwide, the new GA-110JOP also sports a big watch case.
When the hour and minute hands land on 2 and 4 o’clock, respectively, they form a X-shaped with the gold line on the dial. The X-shaped here is, of course, a nod to the scar on the protagonist’s chest. I leaning towards the white and maroon against black design than the DBZ.
Since then, G-Shock watches have become very popular with Special Forces groups in both American and other NATO nation units, due to being “battle tested”. The strap of the watch is also designed to protect the module during a fall. The G-Shock was conceptualised in 1981 by Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe when he accidentally dropped and broke a pocket watch given to him by his father. The G-Shock was conceived as a watch which would have “triple 10” resistance, meaning it would have a battery life of 10 years, have a water resistance of 10 bar and could survive a fall of 10 metres. Line art of Goku is cleverly integrated to create an unmistakable anime vibe. Two of Casio G-Shock‘s latest collabs are sure to please anime fans. Revealed in Japan on the same day, on June 17, are the G-Shock x Dragon Ball Z and G-Shock x One Piece GA-110-based collaborative wrist watches. These models are identical to the surfing editions, and also released in 1996. They were designed for snowboarding and skateboarding competitors and competitions.
