The Cuisinart comes with three trays–the air frying basket , a sheet pan, and a rack. These are all interchangeable in position based on what you’re cooking. You want whichever rack you are using to be on top, but make sure the air fry pan is always sitting atop the sheet pan so it can catch drippings, crumbs, etc. You can also use the sheet cuisinart griddler elite pan as you would a regular sheet pan in your full-size oven for baking, air frying, etc. Beyond performance, there are other features that set the Panasonic FlashXpress apart from the competition. Hooks on the door help eject the toaster’s wire rack, so you don’t have to reach your hand as far into the oven cavity to retrieve your food.
The Pro does add a couple of minor features, like a slow-cook mode and an internal light. But the Bagel Bites we toasted between the door and the front of the oven’s rack were noticeably paler than those toasted in the middle and back of the oven. In our tests, it cooked food evenly and didn’t generate any hot spots that would otherwise cause inconsistent toasting. Impressively, it made toast faster than most of the other models we tried. This oven takes up very little space on a counter, but it’s still large enough to fit four pieces of bread or two slices of leftover pizza.

If I could go back in time and gift myself this toaster oven back when we didn’t have an actual oven, I would. Ultimately, we focused our search on models that were able to handle baking, toasting, and other standard tasks well. This compact toaster oven was among the best at evenly toasting bread, baking cookies, and bringing frozen foods to life. It performed as well as or better than competitors that cost significantly more.
The Breville Smart Oven Pro is an ideal medium-size model that does quite well across all cooking tasks. We’re especially impressed by its ability to customize its cooking functions to a greater degree than most competitors. Unfortunately this unit doesn’t come with an interior light for clear visual monitoring. It’s not a dealbreaker, but at this price point we think it would be nice to have one. If you are particularly interested in stylish design, lots of power, and greater energy efficiency, a high-end toaster oven may be worth the investment.

Broiler – The broiler part of a convection toaster provides an intense browning on top of the food. I spent almost a year eating sad soggy delivery french fries and wings. Yes, you can re-crisp them in the oven or cast-iron, but this does it in minutes, and makes takeout taste fresh out of the kitchen again.
