The Weber Q 2200 has the same features as the Q 2000, but also has the additional feature of the built-in thermometer. You help support OutdoorGearLab’s product testing and reviews by purchasing from our retail partners. Though slightly lacking on space, this grill has ample power to cook up any meal you can dream up.

Not changed is the 189 square inches of cooking space offered, push button ignition, infinite control burner value, cast aluminum lid and body and a glass-reinforced nylon body. The Weber Q 2200 is an attractive little grill if I do say so myself. It has a tan lid with the Q series logo on top, and it’s made up of a cast aluminum lid and body supported by a reinforced nylon frame. The brand also sells cast iron griddles you can swap in for more versatility. 2 tubular stainless steel burners, 21,700 BTU-per-hour input, 393 sq. The Weber Q 1200 is our go-to for efficiently and effectively cooking meals while on the go.

If this was not enough, this model includes large, sturdy side tables to hold your utensils or plates while cooking. Overall, the construction of the Q1200 grill makes it quite durable yet lightweight, allowing you to take it with you to the beach or even a farmhouse. All the materials used to make and reinforce this grill protect it from rust, allows it to retain heat better and reduces maintenance. Additionally, the removable catch pan collects leftover grease from the angled grease pan at a distance, making clean-up a breeze.

Heat Flux is the BTU per square inch and is a more useful measure of how much heat a grill delivers than BTU alone. While it doesn’t mean that ribs and similar foods are of the table, it can make it trickier to cook them. After all, grilling on a lower temperature doesn’t have nearly the same effect. The biggest issue here would be with the fact that there is only one burner. Now, given the size of the model this isn’t too surprising, but it does create a small issue when it comes to indirect cooking.

One of the few grills I’ve kept around after reviewing was a 1200. While I completely understand that it’s not the right grill for everyone, it’s the right grill for many people. A stainless steel Q-shaped burner tube produces 8,500 BTUs of heat, which the grill efficiently and evenly disperses across the entire grill surface. It takes minutes to preheat thoroughly, but it must be preheated with the lid down.

There is a griddle plate available that will turn half of your grill into a griddle. It’s great for those who like to cook breakfast or want to whip up some caramelized onions or bacon for burgers. However, Weber warns that only one griddle plate can be used at a time, as using two will likely cut off airflow to the burner, kill the flames and cause a propane buildup. There is also a very durable porcelain coating covering the grates.

The benefit here is that it limits the amount of grease that can fall on the flame, resulting in fewer flare-ups. Cleaning is never fun, but the portable bbq grills are much easier to clean than most other portable grills on the market. If you have a Phillips-head screwdriver and a can-do attitude, you’ll be able to set up the Weber Q 2200 Grill in a matter of minutes. After pulling the grill and its pieces out of the box, I attached the lid using the included pins and screwed on the grill’s handle and thermometer.
